Derek Carr didn’t kill our lineups last week, but he probably didn’t win anyone their matchup either.
The Oakland QB pretty much continued what he’s been doing for most of the year. He came up with his 2nd-lowest fantasy score of the season, but he completed two-thirds of his passes in a game that found his team scoring 26 points. He delivered a mere 1 TD -- to FB Alec Ingold, of all people -- and the Raiders added just 1 more offensive TD, a Josh Jacobs run with 1:06 left.
Carr had tossed 2+ TD passes in 3 straight before the Thursday night clash and 5 of his past 6 games. Cincinnati presents a nice opportunity for Carr to get back into that range in Week 11. Beyond that lie 3 more upside matchups in a row: at the Jets, at the Chiefs and home against the Titans.
Football Outsiders rates Kansas City’s pass defense 5th-best in DVOA, but the Chiefs have also allowed 31, 23 and 35 points over the past 3 weeks. They sit middle of the league for the year in points allowed and TD passes allowed, and every Chiefs game carries shootout potential.
So even though Carr didn’t win Week 11 for you, don’t quit on him just yet.
