Week 2 Free Agent Focus

By Matt Schauf and Jared Smola 8:09am EDT 9/12/16

Joe Flacco, QB, Ravens

Blind-bid recommendation: 4-5%

Flacco looked just fine in his 1st game back from last year’s torn ACL. He completed 23 of 34 passes (67.4%) for 258 yards, 1 TD and 0 INTs in the win over the Bills.

Flacco’s connection with WR Mike Wallace was on point, and WR Breshad Perriman flashed his big-play ability with a 35-yard grab. Steve Smith didn’t produce big numbers in his return from last year’s Achilles’ tendon tear, but he did lead the team with 9 targets.

Flacco will be a nice Week 2 spot-start option against a Browns defense that just gave up 278 yards and 2 TDs to Carson Wentz in his 1st NFL action.

Tevin Coleman, RB, Falcons

Blind-bid recommendation: 50-60%

Coleman is surprisingly owned in just 59% of CBS leagues and only 51.8% of ESPN leagues, so check if he’s available in yours.

He operated in a true committee backfield in Sunday’s opener — and proved more effective than Devonta Freeman. Coleman turned his 8 carries into only 22 yards, but Freeman mustered just 20 on his 11 totes. And Coleman posted a 5-95 receiving line on 6 targets vs. Freeman’s 4-20 on 4 looks. He played just 4 fewer snaps than Freeman in all (36-32).

In what looks like a “hot-hand” situation, Coleman might have earned himself even more work in Week 2. He needs to be owned in 100% of fantasy leagues.
