Browns rookie RB Quinshon Judkins remains unsigned even after charges were dropped against him for domestic violence. Adam Schefter of ESPN suggested that the deal may not be completed until the NFL investigates the allegation. It is unclear if this could drag out to the regular season.
Adam Schefter of ESPN: “Though Cleveland second-round pick Quinshon Judkins will not face any charges, he and the Browns still have been unable to reach a deal and may not until the end of any NFL investigation.”
Judkins was drafted 36th overall by the Browns with the chance to step in as a lead back right away. He has yet to join training camp due to his arrest and unsigned contract.
The charges were dropped agaisnt Judkins, but the NFL appears to still be investigating the domestic violence allegations against him.
The Browns could wait to sign Judkins until the investigation is complete, which might stretch into September or even the season. It’s unclear whether they’ll keep him unsigned that long.
If he signs early and gets acclimated, he’ll join -- and likely lead -- a committee in the Cleveland backfield, with the chance to take over fully. His extended absence from camp puts him behind fellow rookie Dylan Sampson and veteran Jerome Ford, who are likely to carry the load until Judkins catches up.
