Cowboys HC Brian Schottenheimer said he sees a "night and day" difference from RB Jaydon Blue between now and his rookie year. Blue was often a healthy scratch last season, carrying just 38 times across five appearances. There were multiple reports of work ethic and maturity issues throughout the year.
What They're Saying
Schottenheimer on Blue's growth: “We had some really great conversations, and he took that, ingested it, took it in, and came back with a great look on his face, a great work ethic, and an intelligence level that is off the charts. The guy is football brilliant. He really is."
2026 Fantasy Football Impact
Javonte Williams heads to training camp as Dallas' clear lead back. But there's room for Blue to carve out a role, particularly in the passing game.
Williams was one of the least effective pass catchers in the league last year, ranking 40th in yards per route and 39th in Pro Football Focus receiving grade among 40 RBs with 30+ targets.
Blue caught just one ball last year but racked up 42 catches, 368 yards, and 6 TDs in his final college season. He ranked fourth in catches and receiving TDs on a Texas team that also included NFLers Matthew Golden, Isaiah Bond, and Gunnar Helm. Blue's 1.59 yards per route ranked 15th among 54 FBS RBs with 30+ targets in 2024.
We'll see if he can keep the momentum rolling in training camp. Blue would probably need a Williams injury to be a reliable option in lineup-setting fantasy leagues. But he could have spike-week value in best ball, particularly in PPR leagues.
