Broncos RB R.J. Harvey suffered a torn labrum in his shoulder in January's playoff loss to the Patriots, according to The Denver Post's Luca Evans. Harvey had surgery this offseason and "hasn’t done much team work in OTAs," Evans adds.
2026 Fantasy Football Impact
It's unclear when Harvey will be fully cleared, but the missed time this offseason won't help his chances of earning a bigger 2026 role.
Harvey played well behind RB J.K. Dobbins for the first half of his 2025 rookie season, and he wasn't very effective when he took over as lead back after Dobbins' season-ending foot injury.
Among 51 RBs with 90+ carries last year, Harvey ranked:
- 42nd in yards per carry
- 48th in rush yards over expected per attempt
- 43rd in yards after contact per attempt
- 34th in missed tackles forced per attempt
- 46th in Pro Football Focus rush grade
Harvey was better in the passing game, ranking 12th in yards per route and 15th in Pro Football Focus receiving grade among 40 qualifying RBs. That's where he's likely to make the biggest impact this season after Denver re-signed Dobbins and added rookie RB Jonah Coleman.
But Harvey will need to claim a bigger share of the rushing work to be a reliable fantasy option. We'll see if he's a full-go come the start of training camp in late July and then keep an eye on what this Broncos backfield will look like.
For now, Harvey isn't particularly attractive at his RB31 ADP.
