Stribling has been cast as one of the more overdrafted prospects in this recent draft class. He's even sparked debate around his consensus valuation.
There was reason to view him as overdrafted. Among the 36 wide receivers selected, Stribling was the sixth off the board despite ranking 26th in fantasy points per game (PPG), 31st in target share, and 27th in yards per team pass attempt last college season.
That’s even with him being one of the oldest as a fifth-year college athlete.
While the criticism may or may not be fair of the 49ers' second-round selection, he’s opened his preseason career with a strong performance. And with injuries piling up ahead of him on the depth chart, he’ll have a chance to carry that success into the regular season.
