Cardinals HC Mike LaFleur said Saturday that RB Jeremiyah Love's ankle is a "little bit more sore than we were anticipating." LaFleur downplayed the injury after Thursday night's preseason opener, but he sounded less optimistic Saturday and even sidestepped questions about Love's availability for the season opener.

LaFleur when asked if Love could be in danger of missing the start of the season: "Honestly, all I’m focused on is August 15th. ... Then we’ll kinda re-evaluate it going into next week. But he will be out this week."

Arizona's season opener is still 29 days away, so Love should have time to heal if this is a low-ankle sprain. A high sprain would put Week 1 in jeopardy.
