Seattle's first injury report ahead of Wednesday night's opener found S Nick Emmanwori limited and S Ty Okada not practicing. Emmanwori's still working back from an ankle injury that he played through in last season's playoffs but that required surgery in July. Okada's dealing with a hamstring injury.
What They're Saying: Safeties in Rough Shape
ESPN's Brady Henderson on Emmanwori: "His recovery from July ankle surgery still is not allowing him to practice fully. Seems like another sign he's unlikely to play in the opener."
Mookie Alexander of the Field Gulls blog: "There's some concern regarding the availability of Ty Okada, who did not practice due to a hamstring issue. Okada is replacing Coby Bryant as the other starting deep safety alongside Julian Love, and with Bud Clark out for the year, there's literally no other healthy depth on the active roster."
2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Don't Play Seahawks Safeties in IDP; Boost Pats WRs
That second quote does a good job of summing up the situation, because there's more at play here than just Okada's health.
Seattle started Emmanwori, Love, and Bryant at safety in the Super Bowl. Bryant then left for Chicago in free agency. His replacement, Okada, doesn't look like a good bet to be ready for Wednesday night after missing Sunday's practice.
Emmanwori's clearly not worth betting on in your IDP lineups yet, after dealing with the ankle fallout all offseason. And he seems like a poor bet to play his usual role, if he plays at all.
So we could be looking at a seriously shaky group of Seahawks safeties in the regular-season opener.
We'll keep watching the injury reports for this week and both situations beyond Week 1 as needed.
Injuries Bolster Matchup for Patriots
New England, meanwhile, has imported WRs A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs since that game, presenting much more of a challenge for secondaries than last year's meager WR group could muster.
Brown should be an easy Week 1 start, despite a matchup that limited passing-game scoring last season. Doubs could present some sneaky upside for deeper leagues.
