A.J. Brown Headshot

Patriots WR A.J. Brown left Wednesday night’s game against the Seahawks early in the third quarter after getting his ankle rolled up on an incompletion. X-Rays ruled out a fracture, but Ian Rapoport of NFL Network says Brown is believed to have suffered a high ankle sprain that could cost him 1 to 6 weeks, depending on the severity.

What They're Saying: Negative X-Rays, MRI Next

Ian Rapoport, NFL Network: “Patriots WR AJ Brown, who left last night’s opener because of an injury, is believed to have suffered a high-ankle sprain.

X-Rays were negative for a fracture. Brown has an MRI today to determine how much time he’ll miss.”

2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Fracture Avoided, Absence Possible

Brown was in obvious discomfort as he headed to the medical tent with trainers in the third quarter, but it appears he avoided the worst-case outcome.

High ankle sprains can sideline players for very different stretches depending on severity. Ashton Jeanty, for example, is set to return to a full workload after only 3 weeks.

Brown being out created more opportunities for Mack Hollins (4-51 on 5 targets) and DeMario Douglas (5-20 on 7 targets).

We'll update when more is known about the severity.
