Michael Mayer Headshot

The Raiders and TE Michael Mayer agreed to a three-year, $45 million extension with $30 million guaranteed, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The deal makes Mayer the sixth-highest-paid TE in average annual salary, just ahead of recent deals signed by Isaiah Likely and Mark Andrews. Mayer is now signed with the Raiders through the 2029 season.

Dynasty Impact

This is a rare case of a player's dynasty value taking a hit after signing a lucrative contract. By putting pen to paper, Mayer is now stuck behind TE Brock Bowers for at least this season and next. The Raiders have a club option on Bowers' contract in 2028, and he's unlikely to get away in 2029 or beyond.

Mayer has proven capable of producing TE1 numbers when Bowers is sidelined, so he's certainly worth rostering in all dynasty leagues. But he's a long shot to be a reliable fantasy start whenever Bowers is healthy.

Mayer will be 28 when he next has a chance to hit free agency in 2030.
