Cardinals RB Jeremiyah Love looked inevitable in posting a 21-90 rushing line and 5-19-1 receiving against the 49ers in Week 3. But he has garnered just 1 target in each of the two games since while averaging a mere 11.3 carries per contest outside of Week 3. One key issue: Tyler Allgeier's getting passing-down work, limiting the rookie's receiving opportunities.
Allgeier Ahead in Passing Situations
Through five games, Allgeier has played 40 more pass snaps than Love while beating him by just two total snaps overall.
Allgeier has pass-blocked 42 times to Love's 27, according to Pro Football Focus, and he has run 87 routes to Love's 65.
Even the receiving production between them doesn't suggest Arizona needs to change anything.
| Player | Targets | Rec | Yds/Rec |
| Love | 14 | 11 | 3.3 |
| Allgeier | 12 | 12 | 3.7 |
2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Love Doesn't Look Like a Lineup Booster
Allgeier's receiving edge particularly hurts because the struggling Cards continually play from behind. They're 1-4, despite that season-opening win at the Chargers. And they've lost three of the past four games by 12+ points.
That kind of game script will limit everyone's rushing volume and generate more of the passing situations that Allgeier's leading.
We'll see whether Arizona starts to shift that playing-time split as Love gets healthier, but it's also possible that the rookie gets more worn down as the season progresses. He has already injured both ankles and talked about the toll the year has taken on his body.
Expect Love to linger lower in RB2 range of our weekly rankings until/unless something changes here.
Week 6 presents a difficult matchup with the Rams (eighth in rush DVOA; fourth overall).
