WR Jalen Coker led the Panthers across receiving categories in Sunday's win over the Eagles. He drew 13 targets (33.3% of Bryce Young's total pass attempts), tallied 97 yards (34.5%), and tied WR Tetairoa McMillan for the team lead with 6 catches (30.0%). The game marked a return for Coker, who missed Week 4 with a quad injury that knocked him out of the Week 3 contest at Cleveland. Coker trailed McMillan by just one snap and one route. Coker's biggest play came via a 32-yard catch-and-run late in the third quarter, on a play that found him lining up in the backfield to create a coverage matchup with LB Zack Baun.
2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Coker's a Comfy Fantasy Start
That's notable because scheming that type of opportunity on a third-and-8 only confirms what Coker's usage -- and offseason extension -- already indicated: The Panthers like him.
Coker now leads McMillan 35-32 in targets over their four shared games, including the Cleveland contest he left early. Sunday marked the second time he has beaten McMillan in targets and the first time this season that more than 1 target separated their game totals.
Coker has caught 6+ balls and exceeded 60 yards in each of the three games he has completed this season. That extends to five straight games of 6+ receptions if we look back to last season's finale and playoff loss.
The third-year wideout looks like a WR2-level starter going forward in an offense that entered the week third in the NFL in pass attempts and second in passing yards.
Carolina does get the second-toughest remaining WR schedule by our numbers, though. We'll see how that impacts production with statistically negative matchups against Tampa Bay and Denver within the next three weeks.
