ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Colts QB Andrew Luck has decided to retire. Luck has reportedly already talked to team management about his decision. Jacoby Brissett now takes over the starting gig. This appears to be a shocking move to everyone. Schefter reports that Luck feels "worn down." The QB switch lowers the ceiling for everyone in the Indy offense. The Colts finished 30th in points and 31st in scoring in 2017, with Luck sidelined (shoulder) and Brissett starting.

Here's a full breakdown of the fantasy impact of Luck's retirement.

Colts HC Frank Reich said Tuesday that QB Andrew Luck (calf/ankle) won't practice this week. Luck is still struggling with "full speed movement vs. pain threshold," per Reich. So the earliest Luck will get back on the field is next Monday -- 13 days before the season opener. He's looking legitimately questionable for Week 1. QB Jacoby Brissett will start if Luck isn't ready.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen hears that there's "guarded optimism" that Colts QB Andrew Luck (calf/ankle) will be ready for Week 1. That pretty much matches what we heard from GM Chris Ballard on Wednesday. Luck certainly isn't a lock to be out for the the opener against the Chargers, but we get the vibe that he's better than 50/50 to play Week 1. Luck's ADP has dropped to the 8th round in drafts over the past couple of days.

In a conference call with reporters on Tuesday, Colts GM Chris Ballard refused to say that QB Andrew Luck will definitely be ready for Week 1, according to The Athletic's Zak Keefer. Ballard also gave some more details on what's ailing Luck, explaining that the original calf strain has turned into a "high-ankle-like issue." Ballard added that there's no plans for surgery. The Colts medical staff is trying to pinpoint the source of the pain and have Luck rehab. Beyond the fact that this has been a problem since the spring, it's troubling that the team still doesn't seem to know exactly what's wrong with its star QB. It's turned Luck into an extremely risky fantasy pick -- at least until we see him back on the field.

Colts owner Jim Irsay said in a Monday interview on SiriusXM that QB Andrew Luck is dealing with a "small little bone" issue. “But I really feel very confident that he’s going to find his way through this thing," Irsay added. It's the 1st we've heard of any sort of bone problem for Luck and adds more mystery to an injury that's lingered since the spring. Luck's ADP has sunk to the 7th round in drafts over the past week, but he's still a general avoid at that price.

The Colts are “confident” and “optimistic” that QB Andrew Luck (calf) will be ready for the start of the season, according to insider George Bremer. That's something short of an outright guarantee, although it certainly sounds like Luck is more likely than not to be out there for Week 1. His calf injury has lingered since the spring, and he's now been sidelined for the past week-and-a-half. HC Frank Reich said Friday that Luck isn't expected to practice the next 3 days, adding that Luck is still is experiencing pain in that calf. We'll continue to keep a close eye on this one.

Colts QB Andrew Luck will remain out through the next week of practice as he rehabs his strained left calf, according to Mike Chappell of CBS-4 in Indianapolis. We’re not altering our projections for Luck yet, but this situation is getting worrisome. Consider it another reason to wait on drafting your QB

Colts QB Andrew Luck has missed 2 of the team's first 4 training-camp practices with a calf injury. He missed most of the spring with the same issue. It didn't sound like a concern then, but it's now become something to monitor. Stay tuned for updates.

Colts QB Andrew Luck has avoided the PUP list and is "good to go" for the start of training camp, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports. Luck missed spring workouts with a minor calf injury, but it never seemed like a real concern. After finishing 4th among QBs in fantasy points in his return last year, Luck is coming off the board 3rd at the position in July best-ball drafts.

The Colts are signing WR Devin Funchess to a 1-year contract. It's a nice landing spot for a guy who might still have his best football ahead of him. Funchess broke out for a 63-840-8 line just a couple of years ago but fell out of favor in Carolina this past season. He turns just 25 in May, though -- extremely young for a guy entering his 5th NFL campaign. Funchess has a shot to finish 2nd on the 2019 Colts in targets and will be getting a QB upgrade in Andrew Luck. Funchess should also be plenty motivated on the 1-year deal.

Colts WR T.Y. Hilton was listed as a full participant in Wednesday's practice. That hamstring test must have went well. Hilton is now on track to return for this weekend's game -- although he'll face a tough matchup against Bills CB Tre'Davious White. Hilton's return is excellent news for QB Andrew Luck.

Colts QB Andrew Luck put in a full week of practice and isn't listed on the final Week 1 injury report. He suffered a minor foot injury in the 3rd preseason game, but his status for Sunday's opener against the Bengals was never in doubt. This will be Luck's 1st regular-season action since January 1, 2017. He's a risky Week 1 fantasy play.

Colts QB Andrew Luck (foot) is practicing on Monday, insider George Bremer reports. Luck suffered a minor foot injury in the 3rd preseason game, but his Week 1 status was never in doubt. He'll be a risk/reward fantasy play vs. the Bengals in what will be his 1st regular season action since January 1, 2017.

Colts QB Andrew Luck suffered a "minor" foot injury in last weekend's preseason game, HC Frank Reich said. Luck is expected to be held out of practice this week before returning on Monday. This doesn't sound like anything to worry about, but we'll keep an eye on Luck next week. We're not moving him in the QB rankings.
