The Packers signed QB Blake Bortles to the practice squad. He's expected to be promoted to the active roster and serve as QB Jordan Love's backup vs. the Chiefs on Sunday. Bortles spent about 2-and-a-half months with Green Bay this offseason, so he has some familiarity with the offense.

The Packers are releasing QB Blake Bortles now that Aaron Rodgers has returned, according to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky. Expect Green Bay to hit the regular season with just Jordan Love behind Rodgers on the active roster. We’ll see if Bortles lands on another roster

The Packers signed QB Blake Bortles. The 29-year-old has attempted just 2 passes over the last 2 years after 5 mostly disappointing seasons in Jacksonville. The real takeaway here, of course, is that Green Bay might be preparing to be without disgruntled QB Aaron Rodgers. We'll continue to monitor the situation.

Broncos QBs Drew Lock, Brett Rypien, Blake Bortles and Jeff Driskel are all ineligible to play against the Saints on Sunday due to COVID contract tracing concerns to Driskel, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. We'll see whether this game gets played tomorrow -- and what the hell Denver does on offense if it does. Insider Mike Klis throws out Kendall Hinton as an option at QB. He's on Denver's practice squad as a WR but was a 3-year starting QB at Wake Forest. This is a mess and you should try to avoid all Broncos in Week 12 fantasy lineups.

The Broncos have signed QB Blake Bortles. QB Jeff Driskel will get the 1st crack at replacing the injured Drew Lock -- but Bortles could hit the field if Driskel struggles. Both Bortles and Driskel bring enough rushing upside to be QB2 considerations in fantasy.

QB Blake Bortles has inked a 1-year deal with the Rams. After an up-but-mostly-down 5 seasons in Jacksonville, he'll spend at least 1 year backing up Jared Goff in Los Angeles. Perhaps spending some time under offensive whiz kid Sean McVay will be good for Bortles. He'll obviously hold no 2019 fantasy value barring a Goff injury.

The Jaguars have reached a 4-year deal with QB Nick Foles. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports it's a 4-year, $88 million pact with $50.125 million guaranteed. That's obviously a pretty serious commitment. We'll see how long it takes Jacksonville to realize that the 30-year-old Foles isn't really an upgrade over Blake Bortles. Foles is a QB3 for common-sized fantasy football leagues, and he doesn't significantly enhance the outlook for Jacksonville's wideouts. Ian Rapoport reports that the Jags are expected to release Bortles once the Foles deal becomes official.

Jaguars QB Blake Bortles will start Sunday's finale against the Texans, HC Doug Marrone announced. QB Cody Kessler was timid and mostly ineffective in his 4 starts, completing 63% of his passes but averaging 5.5 yards per attempt and totaling just 1 TD. At least Bortles will take some shots. He's in play as a QB2 and cheap DFS tournament dart -- and also gives the Texans defense more upside.

The Jaguars benched QB Cody Kessler for QB Blake Bortles in the 2nd half of Sunday's game in Miami. Kessler completed 12 of 17 passes for just 106 yards and "led" his team to 7 points. We'll see who Jacksonville goes with in the finale, but it's irrelevant for fantasy football purposes.

The Jags have fired OC Nathaniel Hackett and benched QB Blake Bortles. Jacksonville sits 22nd in total yards per game; 28th in points per game. Hackett’s replacement is QB coach Scott Milanovich, whose background stems from the CFL and NFL Europe. Cody Kessler takes over at QB and figures to reduce the Jags’ turnover rate. He owns just 4 picks on 248 career attempts. Of course, it’ll be tough to trust any skill player not named Leonard Fournette down the stretch. Even then, Fournette will have to overcome the loss of top OL Andrew Norwell (ankle) to injured reserve.

Jaguars HC Doug Marrone announced Monday that QB Blake Bortles will start this weekend's game against the Eagles in London. Bortles was yanked in the 3rd quarter of yesterday's game against the Texans after losing a pair of fumbles. That (surprisingly) was the 1st time he'd ever been benched in-game. He figures to be on a short leash again on Sunday and can't be trusted in Week 8 fantasy lineups.

Jaguars QB Blake Bortles was benched in the 3rd quarter of Sunday's game against the Texans. He was 6-of-12 for 61 yards with 0 TDs and 2 lost fumbles in a little over 1 half of action. QB Cody Kessler is in for Jacksonville.

The forecast for today's Jaguars-Chiefs game calls for periods of heavy rain. The good news is that winds are expected to be only 6-7 mph. They aren't ideal conditions, but it's not enough for us to adjust our projections for these passing games. You might use the weather as a tiebreaker if deciding between 2 similarly ranked players, though.

The Jaguars and QB Blake Bortles have agreed to a new 3-year, $54 million contract with $26.5 million guaranteed. The organization has been lukewarm on Bortles (and rightfully so), but obviously thinks he's their best option for now. It's actually a relatively short and cheap deal for a starting QB -- and it reduces Bortles' 2018 cap hit by $9 million. It's possible this contract is structured so that the Jags can get out of it as early as next offseason, and it wouldn't be surprising to see them add a QB at some point during the upcoming draft. Bortles is at least locked in as Jacksonville's 2018 starter, though. As shaky as his play has been at times, he's finished as a top 13 QB in each of the past 3 seasons.

Jaguars QB Blake Bortles had surgery on his right (throwing) wrist on January 26, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Bortles reportedly played the entire season with the injury after suffering it in December 2016. We don't have any details on the procedure or his timetable for return, but we'll monitor his progress throughout the offseason.

The forecast for today's Jaguars-Browns game calls for a 45% chance of rain with winds of 20-22 mph. That wind is a concern for the passing and kicking games, but hopefully you weren't relying on those pieces too heavily anyway. Both teams were already likely to go run-heavy here. We did move Ks Josh Lambo and Zane Gonzalez down the Week 11 Rankings.

Per multiple sources, Jags HC Doug Marrone will name Blake Bortles the Week 1 starter vs. Houston. It’s a minor surprise after Chad Henne started the Jags’ 3rd preseason game. Across 34 preseason attempts, Bortles has posted 206 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT. He remains a poor bet to start all 16 games and continues to put a damper on pass catchers like Allen Robinson. Bortles is buried in our QB rankings.

The Jaguars announced that QB Chad Henne will start Thursday's preseason game against the Panthers. QB Blake Bortles will also reportedly receive 1st-team reps, but Henne looks like the favorite to be under center come Week 1. This is a situation to avoid in fantasy drafts.

The Florida Times Union's Ryan O'Halloran predicts Chad Henne will be under center for the Jaguars come Week 1. It's the fallout from QB Blake Bortles' brutal performance in Thursday night's preseason game. "This regime isn’t about the future, it’s about which players they feel give them the best chance to win in Houston on Sept. 10," O'Halloran writes. "They’ll take Check-down Chad over a quarterback whose confidence looks shattered." He also points out that playing Bortles exposes him to an injury that could guarantee his $19 million salary next year. O'Halloran even believes that Bortles could end up getting cut. He's obviously undraftable right now.
