Steelers QB Dwayne Haskins was killed after being struck by a dump truck in South Florida early Saturday morning. He was there working out with some Steelers teammates. The 15th overall pick of the 2019 draft, Haskins would have turned 25 in May.
The Steelers signed QB Dwayne Haskins, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Haskins flamed out on and off the field in Washington but is certainly worth a flier for Pittsburgh. He was the 15th overall pick of the 2019 draft after chucking for 4,831 yards and 50 scores at his final season at Ohio State and is still just 23 years old. QB Ben Roethlisberger is tentatively expected back for 2021, but the Steelers need to find their QB of the future.
Washington has released QB Dwayne Haskins. He's had issues off the field and been a mess on it, averaging just 6.0 yards per attempt and tossing 5 TDs vs. 7 INTs this season. We'll see where the 15th overall pick of the 2019 draft lands. Washington is expecting to get QB Alex Smith (calf) back for Sunday night's win-and-in game vs. the Eagles.
Washington QB Alex Smith (calf) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Panthers. QB Dwayne Haskins gets another start but is well off the fantasy radar.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport tweets that "optimism is waning" about Washington QB Alex Smith's availability for today's game vs. the Panthers. Smith put in a full practice on Friday, but it sounds like he was sore the next day. QB Dwayne Haskins is in line for another start.
Washington QB Alex Smith (calf) is questionable for Sunday's game vs. the Panthers. He was listed as a full participant and reportedly took most of the 1st-team reps in Friday's practice, so we're expecting him to get the start. Smith isn't much of a fantasy option but brings more stability to the offense than QB Dwayne Haskins.
Washington QB Alex Smith (calf) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Seahawks. So it'll be Dwayne Haskins back under center. Haskins has been more aggressive than Smith this season (6.6-yard vs. 5.7-yard average depth of throw) but less accurate (60.8% completion rate vs. 66.4%). We'd consider the move from Smith to Haskins a wash for WR Terry McLaurin and TE Logan Thomas but a downgrade for RB J.D. McKissic.
Washington QB Alex Smith appeared to injure his surgically repaired leg in the 2nd quarter of Sunday's game against the 49ers. He's officially questionable to return, but look for QB Dwayne Haskins to finish this one out. We'll update Smith's status when we know more.
Washington QB Kyle Allen (ankle) is "trending" toward missing the rest of the season, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. Allen is expected to have surgery "in the coming weeks" to repair his dislocated and fractured ankle. Washington seems committed to playing QB Alex Smith over QB Dwayne Haskins, who was the 15th overall pick of last year's draft.
Update: Allen posted on social media that he's undergoing surgery and will miss the rest of the season.
Washington will bench QB Dwayne Haskins in favor of Kyle Allen for Sunday's game against the Rams. It's not a shocking move, but the timing is surprising. Haskins threw for 314 yards in Sunday's loss to Baltimore, generating the 3rd-best passer rating and Pro Football Focus passing grade of his career. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Washington "has a window where it thinks it can do some damage." Apparently the coaches believe Allen gives them a better chance to do this damage. Perhaps HC Ron Rivera and OC Scott Turner forget that Allen is the same guy they benched for Will Grier late last season in Carolina. This remains an offense to avoid as much as you can, though the QB switch shouldn't have much impact on the fantasy outlooks for WR Terry McLaurin, RB Antonio Gibson and TE Logan Thomas.
Washington QB Alex Smith has been activated from the PUP list. It's another impressive step in what's been a miraculous recovery from his 2018 compound leg fracture. HC Ron Rivera has said that Smith will be part of the QB battle with Dwayne Haskins and Kyle Allen if healthy, but we'd still consider him a big long shot.
Redskins HC Ron Rivera likes what he's seen from QB Dwayne Haskins early in training camp. “He’s done the extra stuff that he and I talked about in the offseason,” Rivera said. “He’s done the things that I think puts him right there where he needs to be at this junction of where we are in our training, having only been able to do Zoom and now we have only four days of work on the field. He’s done the job that I think deserves recognition.” Rivera has yet to commit to Haskins as his 2020 starter -- but he's certainly the favorite after going 15th overall in last year's draft.
The Redskins hired Scott Turner as OC. He's re-uniting with Ron Rivera after working with him in Carolina the past 2 years. Turner replaced his father, Norv, as Panthers OC for the final 4 games of last season. That's his only experience calling plays at the NFL level.
The Redskins have hired Ron Rivera as their new HC. Rivera compiled a 76-63-1 record in Carolina before being fired earlier this year. He took the Panthers to the playoffs in 4 of his 9 seasons. We'll see if Rivera retains OC Kevin O'Connell or brings in fresh blood.
Redskins QB Dwayne Haskins (ankle) is out for Sunday's finale against the Cowboys, HC Bill Callahan said. Washington will turn back to QB Case Keenum, who has tossed multiple scores in 4 of 5 full games this season. That includes a 221-2-0 passing line vs. Dallas. Keenum will be on the QB2 and DFS radar for Week 17.
Redskins QB Dwayne Haskins is believed to have suffered a high-ankle sprain in Sunday's loss to the Giants, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The rookie is undergoing additional testing. If that confirms this initial diagnosis, he won't play in Sunday's finale against the Cowboys. That'd put Case Keenum back under center for the 'Skins.
Redskins QB Dwayne Haskins was carted back to the locker room in the 3rd quarter of Sunday's game against the Giants with a left ankle injury. We'll update his status when we learn more, but Haskins obviously won't be back today. QB Case Keenum is in for Washington.
The Redskins named QB Dwayne Haskins their starter for the rest of the season. The rookie has looked in over his head so far, although he showed improvement in Buffalo last time out. Regardless, it certainly makes sense for the 1-8 Redskins to get an extended look at Haskins. He'll remain just a low-end QB2 -- and a guy to attack with opposing DSTs.
The forecast for today's Redskins-Bills game calls for winds between 15 and 20 mph with gusts around 30 mph. It won't be as windy as it was last week, but this is still enough to give slight bumps down to the passing and kicking games. Hopefully you were already avoiding Washington's passing game (including Terry McLaurin) in rookie QB Dwayne Haskins' 1st start. QB Josh Allen and WR John Brown remain fine plays on the Buffalo side. We'd try not to use either K in this game.
Redskins QB Dwayne Haskins will start Sunday's game against the Bills. QB Case Keenum was unable to clear concussion protocol. Haskins has looked completely lost in 2 appearances this season, completing just 54.5% of his passes with 0 TDs and 4 INTs. He's nowhere near a fantasy option and is a big downgrade for WR Terry McLaurin. The Bills DST is an elite Week 9 fantasy play.
