Giants QB Eli Manning is set to announce his retirement on Friday, ESPN reports. The 39-year-old will finish his 16-season NFL career with a (perhaps fitting) 117-117 record. Among 85 QBs with 3,000+ career pass attempts since the 1970 merger, Manning ranks 32nd in completion rate, 44th in yards per attempt and 33rd in QB Rating. But his 2 Super Bowl rings will almost certainly land him in the Hall of Fame.

The forecast for today's Dolphins-Giants game calls for sustained winds of 20 mph with gusts of 25+. That's enough to impact the deep-passing and kicking games. Give slight downgrades to the QBs and Ks in this game. And the downfield prowess of WRs like DeVante Parker and Darius Slayton figures to be compromised.

Giants QB Daniel Jones (ankle) is out for Sunday's game against the Dolphins. QB Eli Manning gets another start and is a low-end spot-start option vs. Miami's 29th-ranked QB defense.

Giants QB Daniel Jones (ankle) was back on the practice field on Wednesday. ESPN's Jordan Raanan notes that the rookie was working with the 2nd-team offense, though -- an indication that the Giants are still planning to start QB Eli Manning vs. Miami this weekend. We'll continue to monitor the situation.

Giants QB Daniel Jones' high-ankle sprain is expected to cost him 2-4 weeks, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The rookie will miss tonight's game against the Eagles and Week 15 against the Dolphins. We'll see if he makes it back for the final 2 games vs. the Redskins and Eagles. If QB Eli Manning shows reasonably well tonight, he could be a deeper-league option in that Miami matchup.

Giants QB Daniel Jones (ankle) is out for Monday night's game against the Eagles. He didn't practice all week and should be considered iffy for Week 15 vs. Miami. QB Eli Manning will be back under center on Monday but is just a lower-end QB2 in fantasy lineups.

Giants HC Pat Shurmur announced on Wednesday that QB Daniel Jones has a "mild" high-ankle sprain and that QB Eli Manning will "very likely" start Monday night's game against the Eagles. Manning posted 306-1-0 and 250-1-2 passing lines over the first 2 weeks of the season before getting benched for the rookie. He's just a low-end QB2 against an improved Philly pass defense. We'll see who's under center for the G-Men in a plus Week 15 matchup vs. the Dolphins.

Giants HC Pat Shurmur declined to name QB Eli Manning his Week 3 starter when asked on Monday. Shurmur admitted that it's "fair" to consider making the switch to QB Daniel Jones. Manning has been as mediocre as expected so far, completing 62.9% of his passes, averaging 6.2 yards per attempt and tallying 2 TDs with 2 INTs. Jones looked like the superior QB this preseason and would also threaten defenses with his rushing ability. The rookie is worth adding right now in 2-QB leagues.

When asked about his QB situation after Tuesday's OTA workouts, Giants HC Pat Shurmur said (per ESPN's Jordan Raanan): "I think we are going to play the very best player. I know we're dancing around the words there. Right now, Eli is getting ready to have a great year. Daniel is getting ready to play. We'll see what happens. But we feel good about where Eli is. He's our starting quarterback." Although Shurmur didn't seem to close the door on Daniel Jones overtaking Eli Manning for the Week 1 starting post, it certainly seems that it'll take a drastic difference in performance between the 2 to get Manning benched. We'd bet on Jones taking over at some point this year, however. And neither looks interesting for 2019 redraft leagues.

The Giants used the 6th overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft on Duke QB Daniel Jones. Jones made 36 college starts but leaves school with underwhelming numbers. He completed just 59.9% of his career passes, averaged 6.4 yards per attempt and tossed 52 TDs vs. 29 INTs. He ranked just 11th in this draft class in adjusted completion rate, according to Pro Football Focus. It’s worth noting, though, that Jones played behind a shaky offensive line and saw his receivers drop 9.2% of his passes last year. He has prototypical size (6’5, 231 lbs.), is lauded for his football IQ and boasts nice athleticism. Jones ran for 1,323 yards across the past 3 seasons and registered a 79th percentile SPARQ score at the Combine. That makes him a more exciting prospect in fantasy football than real life. Jones figures to open his NFL career behind Eli Manning. But with Manning running on fumes, Jones stands a good shot to see the field at some point this year.

The New York Post's Paul Schwartz considers Giants WR Odell Beckham (quad) "likely" to miss the final 2 games of the season. Beckham's quad contusion is "showing little or no improvement." And the Giants, of course, have no reason to push him back out there. TE Evan Engram has been the biggest beneficiary of Beckham's absence over the past 2 weeks, totaling 17 targets, 11 catches and 152 yards.

The Giants have ruled WR Odell Beckham out for Sunday’s game at Washington. Beckham shows up on the Friday injury report as a limited participant after sustaining a quad bruise. The team today determined that he won’t be able to play. That obviously raises the target ceilings for WR Sterling Shepard and TE Evan Engram, while also lowering the fantasy floor for QB Eli Manning. Fortunately, he didn’t look attractive for lineups anyway. The loss of 1 of the Giants’ 2 best players also raises the floor for the Washington defense, which is a decent streaming option.

The Giants selected Richmond QB Kyle Lauletta in the 4th round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Lauletta was a 3-year starter for the Spiders, finishing his college career with a 63.5% completion rate and 73 TDs vs. 35 INTs. He boosted his stock with a strong Senior Bowl performance, completing 8 of 12 passes for 198 yards and 3 TDs. Lauletta has average arm strength but a quick release and good accuracy. He also tested as a 67th percentile athlete, so there could be some hidden rushing ability. New York is a nice landing spot, where Lauletta will have a shot to develop into Eli Manning’s successor.

The Giants are set to sign LT Nate Solder, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. It's a huge get for a team desperate for offensive line help. Solder ranked 32nd among 81 OTs in Pro Football Focus' 2017 grades, including a 12th-place finish in run blocking. None of New York's OTs last year ranked better than 52nd in the overall grades.

The Giants have named Pat Shurmur their new HC. The 52-year-old's stock soared after the job he did in Minnesota this season, leading the Vikings to an 11th-place finish in total offense and getting a career year out of QB Case Keenum. Shurmur's 2-season stint as Cleveland's HC from 2011 to 2012 didn't go well (9-23 record), but no one does well in Cleveland these days. In between his stops in Cleveland and Minnesota, he helped Chip Kelly's Eagles to 3 straight top-12 finishes in total offense. The biggest question in New York will be what Shurmur does at QB. He and new GM Dave Gettleman have reportedly spoken highly of QB Eli Manning, but the Giants should still consider a QB with the 2nd overall pick of April's draft.

Giants HC Steve Spagnuolo said Wednesday that his "hope" is that QB Eli Manning plays all of this weekend's game against the Redskins. We're not sure why he needs to "hope" anything -- if he wants Manning to play the entire game, Manning will play the entire game. He's still not better than a low-end QB2, especially with WR Sterling Shepard and TE Evan Engram banged up.

Giants interim HC Steve Spagnuolo said QB Eli Manning will start Sunday's finale against the Redskins but suggested that QB Davis Webb could also get some action. "Eli will start, and then we'll probably take it bit by bit," Spagnuolo said. "We just take it and see how it goes." It makes plenty of sense for the Giants to get a look at their 3rd-round rookie. Webb reportedly got some 1st-team reps in practice last week. This will be a situation to avoid in Week 17 fantasy lineups.

The Giants are expected to go back to QB Eli Manning following the firing of HC Ben McAdoo and GM Jerry Reese, according to ESPN's Jordan Raanan. What a mess. Manning is sitting 29th among QBs in fantasy points per game and won't be more than a lower-end QB2 for Week 14. His return at least stabilizes the fantasy outlooks for WR Sterling Shepard and TE Evan Engram.

The Giants are benching QB Eli Manning in favor of QB Geno Smith for Week 13, HC Ben McAdoo announced on Tuesday. And it sounds like Manning might be riding pine for the rest of the season because the G-Men also want to get a look at rookie QB Davis Webb. “Geno will start this week,” McAdoo said. “Over the last five games, we will take a look at Geno, and we will also give Davis an opportunity.” Manning has completed a decent 62.5% of his passes this season but averaged just 6.1 yards per attempt. How much of the blame belongs to him vs. his supporting cast is debatable. What's not debatable is that the Giants need to start planning for the future with Manning turning 37 in January. Smith's last significant action came in 2014 -- and it wasn't pretty: 59.7% completion rate, 6.9 yards per attempt, 13 TDs, 13 INTs. He brings rushing ability and has a plus matchup vs. Oakland this Sunday. But Smith can't be trusted as more than a low-end QB2.

Giants HC Ben McAdoo pinned the team's offensive struggles this past year on QB Eli Manning, specifically pointing out his 20 turnovers (16 INTs, 4 fumbles). McAdoo also wants to see his QB get the ball out of his hands quicker. "He's got to play with fast feet, he's got to sit on his back foot and be ready to hitch into a throw," McAdoo said. "Things aren't always clean in this league." This follows GM Jerry Reese conceding earlier this offseason that Manning is "probably on the back nine of his career." Manning's starting job isn't in danger. But it's tough to feel good about his 2017 fantasy prospects when his own team is seemingly cooling on him.
