Chiefs RB Kenneth Walker ran 22 times for 177 yards (8.0 yards per carry) and 2 TDs in Sunday's 30-27 win over the Raiders. A 76-yard run padded the total, but he still averaged 4.8 yards per carry on his other 21 attempts. He added 1 catch for 2 yards on his lone target, finishing with 30.9 PPR points. Chiefs RB Kenneth Walker III dominated the Broncos in his debut. Walker ran the ball 23 times for 173 yards, including a 60-yard TD. He also caught three of 6 targets for 18 yards and an additional TD. He looked similar to the Super Bowl MVP we saw last season with Walker and appears to be the focal point of the offense.

Jesse Newell of The Athletic calls Chiefs RB Emmett Johnson an early training camp "faller." Here's more from Newell. “The Chiefs were thrilled to get Emmett Johnson in the fifth round of April’s draft, and I’d think his long-term prospects with the team remain unchanged. But as of now … he’s been a clear fourth in the running back pecking order in practices, behind both Brashard Smith and Emari Demercado [plus starter Kenneth Walker].”

The Kansas City Chiefs selected Nebraska RB Emmett Johnson in Round 5 of the 2026 NFL Draft. Johnson’s college path wasn’t linear. He arrived as an overlooked recruit, redshirted, and then climbed past veteran competition before losing touches in 2024. Even in a split backfield, his receiving stood out, culminating in a 39-catch season that foreshadowed a larger role. When Nebraska committed fully in 2025, Johnson responded with 1,451 rushing yards and a class-high 46 receptions. Among the 20 RBs invited to the NFL Combine, Johnson ranked first in 2025 rushing market share (82.4%), and 15th in yards after contact per attempt (2.95). He ranked fourth in 2025 missed tackles forced per attempt (0.27) and sixth in receiving yards per route run (1.27). He is currently 22 years old.

Nebraska RB Emmett Johnson turned in an underwhelming Combine showing. The 5'10, 202-pounder clocked a 4.56-second 40 time, registering a 41st percentile Speed Score. He also posted subpar marks with:

• A 35.5-inch vertical
• 10-foot broad jump
• 4.29-second short shuttle
• 7.32-second three-cone
