The Raiders have activated RB Kenyan Drake off the NFI list. Now we get to start learning more about his role with the new team. Vegas also placed RB Theo Riddick on the reserved/retired list

The Raiders have placed RB Kenyan Drake on the non-football injury list to open training camp. The team didn't announce what injury is keeping Drake out. He was seen working on the side with trainers at Wednesday's practice, though. We'll keep an eye on his status in the coming days. RBs Jalen Richard and Theo Riddick, meanwhile, landed on the COVID list. Maybe Josh Jacobs will get a few more chances to show Vegas coaches he can catch passes.

Update: Drake returned to practice on July 30.

The Raiders signed RB Theo Riddick. The 29-year-old missed all of 2019 with a fractured shoulder but racked up 247 catches for the Lions over the previous 4 seasons. Riddick is a long shot to be a 2020 fantasy factor but could be a thorn in Josh Jacobs' side. The Raiders continue talking up Jacobs' role in the passing game -- but continue adding competition for backfield targets.

Broncos RB Theo Riddick (shoulder) has been placed on IR. That knocks him out for at least the first 8 games. Riddick shouldn't be part of your redraft plans. Devontae Booker will hang around as Denver's #3 RB for at least the 1st half of the season.

Broncos RB Theo Riddick suffered a "slight" shoulder fracture in the team's preseason opener, insider Mike Klis reports. Riddick is expected to be sidelined 6-8 weeks with the injury. That puts him back on the field in late September or early October, so Riddick figures to miss the first 2-4 games of the season. Of course, the missed time is an even bigger problem considering he just joined the team a week ago. Riddick isn't worth a pick in fantasy drafts.

The Broncos have signed RB Theo Riddick, who was cut by the Lions 5 days ago. Riddick offers very little as a runner but leads all RBs with 247 catches over the past 4 seasons. In Denver, he figures to battle RB Devontae Booker for a pass-catching role. Riddick has received a better pass-catching grade from Pro Football Focus in each of the past 3 seasons. Consider him the early favorite for the gig -- but Riddick isn't worth drafting in fantasy leagues right now.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that the Lions are releasing RB Theo Riddick. The timing of the move is surprising, but it follows offseason rumors that Riddick might be on the roster bubble. Riddick ranked 2nd on the team in targets last season (74) despite missing 2 games. He has averaged 4.4 receptions per game over the past 4 seasons. Riddick's departure raises the target ceiling for breakout candidate Kerryon Johnson.

Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press says he's "not sure [RB Theo] Riddick is a lock for the 53-man roster." That makes sense, given the crowd in the Detroit backfield and Kerryon Johnson's receiving ability. Riddick offers no upside as a runner and has been merely a fine player in the passing game. If he sticks in Detroit, Riddick will be a solid late-round PPR shot to take. But his uncertain status and low fantasy ceiling mean you should pass on him in current best-ball drafting.

Lions HC Matt Patricia suggested that his team will continue to deploy a committee backfield in 2019, not wanting to overwork RB Kerryon Johnson. "I think it’s a position-specific thing where those guys, they take a lot of hits,” Patricia said. “They’re in those situations a lot where their bodies are taking some pounding so you want to be conscious of how many plays they’re getting, especially early on in the year." Patricia comes from New England, where the Patriots have long utilized multiple RBs. The Lions return RBs Theo Riddick and Zach Zenner behind Johnson and might still add to the position in free agency or the draft. There are, of course, very few every-down backs in the NFL. So Johnson still has a shot to flirt with RB1 value in his sophomore campaign under run-loving OC Darrell Bevell.

Lions RB Kerryon Johnson has been placed on IR with the knee injury he suffered back in Week 11. It ends promising rookie season that saw him average 5.4 yards per carry and haul in 32 balls. We still don't have any details on Johnson's injury, but he should be fine for the offseason program. Zach Zenner, LeGarrette Blount and Theo Riddick will close out the year in Detroit's backfield. Zenner led the way with a 46% snap rate, 10 carries and 4 targets in last week's loss in Buffalo.

Lions RB Kerryon Johnson (knee) is out for Sunday’s game against the Bills. The rookie has yet to practice since going down and has no timetable for return. Detroit’s backfield devolved into a 3-man committee last week with LeGarrette Blount, Theo Riddick and Zach Zenner. It’s a situation best avoided in Week 15 fantasy lineups.

Lions RB Kerryon Johnson (knee) is out for Sunday’s game against the Cardinals. He remained sidelined all week and still has no timetable for return. LeGarrette Blount will continue operating as Detroit’s lead ball-carrier, with Theo Riddick handling pass-catching duties.

Lions RB Kerryon Johnson (knee) remained sidelined for Wednesday's practice. Don't expect him back for this weekend's game against the Cardinals. With Johnson out the past 2 weeks, LeGarrette Blount has carried 35 times and seen 2 targets. Theo Riddick has tallied 10 carries and 11 targets.

Lions RB Kerryon Johnson (knee) remained sidelined on Thursday. He's not going to play against the Rams this weekend, leaving the backfield to LeGarrette Blount and Theo Riddick.

Lions RB Kerryon Johnson (knee) did not practice on Wednesday. It's not a good start for his chances of returning for this weekend's game vs. the Rams. Look for LeGarrette Blount to again serve as the lead ball-carrier in that one, with Theo Riddick dominating passing-game work.

Lions WR Marvin Jones (knee) didn’t practice all week and is out for Sunday’s game against the Panthers. He’s going for a 2nd opinion on that injured knee, which usually isn’t a good sign. Jones’ absence leaves T.J. Jones, Brandon Powell and Bruce Ellington behind Kenny Golladay on the WR depth chart. Golladay should dominate targets this weekend. And RB Theo Riddick figures to play a big role in the passing game.

Lions WR Marvin Jones (knee) did not practice on Wednesday. His injury isn't serious, but he's certainly not a lock to be ready for this weekend's game against the Panthers. Jones' absence would turn WR Kenny Golladay into a target hog and also boost RB Theo Riddick's target projection.

Lions RB Theo Riddick (knee) is not listed on the final injury report after putting in a full practice on Friday. His return is excellent timing with the departure of WR Golden Tate and his 9.9 targets per game. Riddick should step back into to a sizable role in the passing game, making him a low-end PPR option. His return also puts a dent in RB Kerryon Johnson’s target projection.

Lions RB Theo Riddick (knee) returned to a limited practice on Wednesday. It gives him a shot to play against the Vikings this weekend. A healthy Riddick should soak up some of the 9.9 targets per game WR Golden Tate leaves behind.

Lions RB Theo Riddick (knee) is out for Sunday’s game against the Seahawks. That’ll again mean an expanded passing-game role for RB Kerryon Johnson, who played a season-high 59% of the snaps last week.
