Colts TE Jack Doyle (concussion) is active for today’s game against the Packers. He’s not a recommended Week 11 fantasy play, but his return puts a dent in TEs Trey Burton and Mo Alie-Cox's target projections.

Colts TE Jack Doyle (concussion) is listed as questionable for this weekend's game vs. the Packers. He put in full practices on Thursday and Friday, though, so he's on track to be cleared in time for that one. Doyle's return puts a dent in TEs Trey Burton and Mo Alie-Cox's target projections.

Colts TE Jack Doyle (concussion) returned to a full practice on Thursday. That puts him on track to play against the Packers this weekend, turning the Colts back into a 3-TE committee alongside Trey Burton and Mo Alie-Cox.

Colts TE Jack Doyle (concussion) is out for Thursday night's game against the Titans. That turns this from a 3-man to 2-man TE committee. TE Mo Alie-Cox (knee) is listed as questionable for Week 10 but should play after getting in a full practice on Wednesday. He's a viable spot starter vs. Tennessee's 31st-ranked TE defense, but TE Trey Burton is the better fantasy play.

Colts TE Jack Doyle sustained a concussion in Sunday's loss to the Ravens. It's the 2nd documented concussion of his career. We'll track Doyle's progress through the protocol this coming week. His absence against the Titans next week would open up extra snaps for TEs Trey Burton and Mo Alie-Cox.

Colts TE Mo Alie-Cox (knee) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game vs. the Ravens. He only got in limited practices on Wednesday and Friday. Alie-Cox shouldn’t be in fantasy lineups at less than 100%. His absence would make TE Trey Burton easier to trust.

Colts TE Mo Alie-Cox (knee) is active for today’s game against the Lions. He can’t be trusted in fantasy lineups, but his return adds some risk to Trey Burton and Jack Doyle’s profiles.

Colts TE Mo Alie-Cox (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Lions. He can’t be trusted in Week 8 fantasy lineups — but his return would add some downside to TEs Trey Burton and Jack Doyle.

Colts TE Mo Alie-Cox (knee) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Bengals. Alie-Cox has run only 18 pass routes and totaled 3 targets over the past 2 weeks, so this is just a slight bump for TEs Trey Burton and Jack Doyle.

The Colts had 1 player and 3 staff members originally test positive for COVID, but all 4 have come back as false positives, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. So the Bengals-Colts game is on for Sunday. We'll let you know if that changes.

Colts TE Trey Burton (calf) has been activated from IR. He'll presumably play against the Bears tomorrow. Burton isn't a Week 4 fantasy option but does further crowd the Colts' TE picture, joining Mo Alie-Cox and Jack Doyle.

Colts TE Trey Burton (calf) has been placed on IR. So he'll miss at least the first 3 games of the season. Burton was having a good camp before going down and might emerge as a spot-start option later on this season. But he's not worth stashing on fantasy benches outside of deep or TE-premium leagues.

Colts HC Frank Reich expects TE Trey Burton to miss the first 2 weeks of the season with his calf injury. That makes him undraftable outside of deep best balls -- although we'll be keeping a close eye on Burton's role when he returns.

Colts TE Trey Burton left the team's scrimmage Saturday with an apparent lower-body injury, according to Stephen Holder of the Indianapolis Star. Burton was reportedly not putting any weight on the affected leg. We'll keep an eye on the situation, but hold off on drafting Burton at least for today.

Update: NFL Network's Mike Gararolo reports it's a calf strain. That'll mean some missed time, but it doesn't sound serious.

There's been a consistent buzz on Colts TE Trey Burton throughout training camp. "Trey's special, and (I'm) really happy to have him on this team," OC Sirianni said earlier this week. "We've always liked to get the ball to our tight ends, especially in that intermediate range and in the red zone, and we're really pleased with what Trey brings to this offense." Burton flamed out in Chicago but flashed in Philadelphia, playing under then-Eagles-OC, now-Colts-HC Frank Reich. Burton still figures to be behind TE Jack Doyle on the depth chart. But in a Colts offense that will make heavy use of the TE, he's at least worth considering in the later rounds of FFPC drafts.

Colts HC Frank Reich said Monday that he's expecting TE Trey Burton to step into the role Eric Ebron played the past 2 seasons. "Trey is a big-time playmaking tight end," Reich said. "He’s an incredible route runner. He’s a very smart, instinctive player. I think he fits a big need in our offense. You know that spot in our offense gets a lot of attention ... that role gets highlighted schematically, in certain ways. I expect Trey, assuming he’s going to stay healthy, will have a very productive year.” Burton battled groin and calf injuries last year but posted a 54-569-6 line back in 2018. He also has experience with Riech after spending 2016 and 2017 with him in Philadelphia. Ebron averaged 6 targets per game over the last 2 seasons -- a 16-game pace of 96. We wouldn't bet on Burton seeing that much volume alongside Jack Doyle, but it's certainly possible that he re-emerges as a fantasy factor in 2020.

The Colts have signed TE Trey Burton to a 1-year deal after he was released by the Bears earlier this week. He'll reportedly make the veteran minimum this season. Burton missed 8 games with groin and calf injuries last year but posted a 54-569-6 line in 2018. He's also familiar with HC Frank Reich's offense after spending 2016 and 2017 with him in Philadelphia. Burton will battle with TE Jack Doyle for snaps and targets in Indy.

The Bears have released TE Trey Burton. The move seemed inevitable after Chicago forked over a 2-year, $16 million deal to TE Jimmy Graham earlier this offseason. After posting a decent 54-569-6 line and TE8 PPR finish in 2018, Burton missed 8 games with groin and calf injuries and totaled just 14 catches this past year. He's currently recovering from hip surgery. We'll see where Burton latches on next, but he's not worth a pick in early best-ball drafts.

Bears GM Ryan Pace revealed that TE Trey Burton had surgery to repair a labrum injury in his hip. The hope is that the procedure fixes the issue that has lingered since the 2018 season. Burton's 2019 was a complete disaster: 14 catches for 84 scoreless yards in 8 games. He's still just 28 but will be nothing more than a late-round flier in 2020 fantasy drafts.

The Bears on Saturday placed TE Trey Burton on IR with his calf injury, ending a season that was injury marred from the start. Burton hit September limited by a groin issue after offseason core-muscle surgery. He totaled just 14 catches in 8 games and never topped 20 yards in a single week. He'll be just 28 at the start of the 2020 season, though, with 2 years remaining on his contract. TE Adam Shaheen is also out or Sunday night's game against the Rams, leaving Ben Braunecker as Chicago's lead TE. There will be some upside to Shaheen once he's back from his foot injury.
