What You Need to Know:

  • 2021, Bourne’s first season outside San Francisco, was a surprising success (55-800-5).
  • With a 8.3-yard aDOT and a 14.5 YPC mark, Bourne excelled after the catch.
  • The 6’1, 203-pounder was extremely reliable, too (3.2% drop rate; 82.1% catch rate).
  • Bourne played all 17 games but saw just a 14.3% target share. Target leader Jakobi Meyers paced the team with 24.0%.
  • Fantasy-wise, Bourne was much better to have in best ball. He posted 3 top-10 PPR weeks; 6 outside the top-60
  • New England added target competition in veteran DeVante Parker and Round 2 speedster Tyquan Thornton.
  • OC Josh McDaniels left for the Raiders’ HC job. A new OC hasn’t been named as of late-May, but Bourne at least brings inside/out versatility for the new play-caller.
  • Bourne’s efficiency will be tough to match, even with some improvement expected out of Mac Jones. Bourne ranked 3rd among 88 WRs with 50+ targets in catch rate.

Draft Sharks Bottom Line:

An undrafted fantasy pick last year, Bourne turned out to be surprisingly useful. He set or matched career highs across the board as a 1st-year Patriot.

This year, following the departure of OC Josh McDaniels, New England will break in a new play-caller. The Pats also have a deeper group of pass catchers after adding DeVante Parker and rookie Tyquan Thornton.

It all adds up to greater uncertainty for Bourne — and a likely downturn in production. Aim for more upside in the later rounds.

Kendrick Bourne, WR NE

1:27am EST 12/25/22

Bourne hits 100

Patriots WR Kendrick Bourne caught 6 of 9 targets for 100 yards and a TD in Saturday's loss to the Bengals. He led the team in all 3 categories (tying Jakobi Meyers in receptions) and added a 29-yard carry. Bourne did all that despite trailing Meyers and rookie WR Tyquan Thornton in playing time and routes, according to Pro Football Focus. Meyers posted a 6-83-1 receiving line on 7 targets, though he inflated that with a 48-yard TD on a ball that was intended for WR Scotty Washington but bounced to Meyers off Washington's hands. Meyers did lead the team in pass routes, though, which makes him easier to like for a Week 17 clash with the Dolphins. Thornton finished with just 1 catch for 8 yards among 3 targets. QB Mac Jones threw for 240 yards and 2 TDs in the game.

Patriots WR Jakobi Meyers (concussion) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game vs. the Raiders. He went from a limited practice on Wednesday to no practice on Thursday to another limited practice on Friday. That’s a strange progression for a guy in the concussion protocol. Patriots-Raiders doesn’t kick off until 4:05 pm ET on Sunday, but we should get an update on Meyers by that morning. Patriots WR DeVante Parker (concussion) has been ruled out, leaving Nelson Agholor, Tyquan Thornton and Kendrick Bourne as New England’s top 3 healthy WRs.

Patriots WR DeVante Parker (knee) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Colts. That leaves Jakobi Meyers, Tyquan Thornton, Kendrick Bourne and Nelson Agholor as New England’s top 4 WRs. Meyers is the only bankable Week 9 fantasy play.

Patriots WR Kendrick Bourne (toe) is inactive for tonight's game with the Bears. This doesn't have much fantasy impact but does, at least, leave a few WR snaps on the field for others.
