        Blake Corum Sidelined Wednesday

Rams RB Blake Corum (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday. He tried to battle through this injury last week but didn't play much in the second half. Corum's absence vs. the Jaguars this weekend would leave rookie Jarquez Hunter as Los Angeles' No. 2 RB -- and likely mean a bigger role for RB Kyren Williams.

Blake Corum Out For Playoffs With Broken Forearm

Rams RB Blake Corum broke his forearm in Week 18 and will miss the playoffs, HC Sean McVay said. The injury shouldn't have too big an impact on Corum's offseason. His absence leaves Ronnie Rivers as the Rams' No. 2 RB. Kyren Williams might handle 100% of the backfield touches this postseason. The Rams host the loser of Sunday night's Lions-Vikings game in Round 1.

Rams challenge Kyren Williams' role with Blake Corum

The Rams spent a third-round pick on RB Blake Corum from Michigan. Corum played behind Hassan Haskins as a sophomore in 2021, ripping off 6.6 yards per carry and scoring 11 times on 144 carries (7.6% TD rate). Then came a huge 2022 season: 247 carries for 1,463 yards and 18 TDs in 12 games. All three marks ranked top-13 in the country. Corum averaged a strong 5.9 yards per carry, finishing first in Pro Football Focus rushing grade among 168 qualifying RBs. His 2022 campaign ended, though, with a torn meniscus in his left knee in late November. That injury played a part in Corum’s decision to return to Michigan for his senior year. He put up big numbers again in 2023 – 258 carries for 1,245 yards and an FBS-high 27 TDs – but his advanced metrics were down. Corum averaged just 4.8 yards per carry and sunk to 71st in PFF rushing grade among 157 qualifiers. So the big question here is whether Corum can regain that 2022 form. If he does, he’ll prove to be one of the best pure runners in this year’s RB class. If not, we’re looking at an undersized back (205 lbs.) that doesn’t offer a ton in the passing game. Kyren Williams dominated backfield work for the Rams in 2023, but the team had little else in the backfield. There's a chance Corum takes a significant amount of work from Williams. Expect him to stay close to his early rookie ADP.

        Kyren Williams had hand surgery

Rams RB Kyren Williams had surgery to repair a broken bone in his hand, HC Sean McVay said Wednesday. Williams hurt his left hand in the fourth quarter of the Wild Card loss to the Lions. We'll look for more details on the procedure and timeline for return. Williams could miss some of the offseason program, but this injury shouldn't impact his 2024 campaign.

        Kyren Williams triumphant in return

Rams RB Kyren Williams returned from IR in Week 12. You might say he did so with a bang. Handling 16 carries, the Notre Dame product tallied 143 yards – the second-highest mark of his career. He added a 6-61-2 receiving line on an 18.1% target share. A positive matchup with Arizona helped. But it’s clear Williams is back near 100% coming off an ankle injury. Also note: Royce Freeman mixed in for 13 carries, 77 yards, and 1 score. So Williams doesn’t look like a true workhorse as we advance. The next two weeks turn up difficult matchups vs. Cleveland and Baltimore.

Kyren Williams' volume to be limited in Week 12 return?

Rams HC Sean McVay suggested on Friday that RB Kyren Williams' workload could be scaled back in his return from his ankle injury this weekend. "We definitely want to be mindful of taking some snaps off him," McVay said. Williams played 88% of Los Angeles' offensive snaps between Weeks 2 and 6, averaging 16.4 carries and 4.4 targets per game. Don't expect him to play that big a role vs. the Cardinals on Sunday -- but we are expecting Williams to step back in as the Rams' clear lead back. See where he sits in the Week 12 RB Rankings.

Kyren Williams should be back Week 12

Rams HC Sean McVay says he expects RB Kyren Williams (ankle) to be ready when he's eligible to return from IR, according to multiple reports. Williams has missed three games, so he'll remain out at least through Week 11 -- on the other side of the team's bye. But we should have him back for fantasy lineups from Week 12 on. Darrell Henderson and Royce Freeman have combined to take over the backfield in Williams' absence. We'd guess some version of that duo will hold on to a little more work after Williams' return than any other Rams RB had before he went down. That's not because they've outplayed Williams, but rather because few RBs dominate backfield touches the way Williams was pre-injury. That said, we'll certainly assume a controlling share for Williams upon return until/unless the team shows otherwise.

Schefter: Royce Freeman and Darrell Henderson to lead Week 7 backfield

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Rams RBs Royce Freeman and Darrell Henderson are expected to lead the backfield vs. the Steelers today. Those two will get "the majority of the workload," a source tells Schefter, while rookie RB Zach Evans serves as the No. 3 RB. RB Myles Gaskin will be inactive today, per Schefter, but is expected to play next week. This backfield will continue to evolve while RB Kyren Williams recovers from his ankle injury. And Schefter adds that no Rams RB will "dominate the workload the way Williams did before he suffered a high ankle sprain ... and that might be the case even once Williams returns as the team aims to preserve his longevity." For Week 7, Freeman and Henderson are just desperation fantasy plays in what figures to be a pass-heavy game plan from Los Angeles. Evans is not useable.

        Kyren Williams to IR

The Rams placed RB Kyren Williams on IR with his ankle injury, knocking him out for the next four games. Los Angeles has a Week 10 bye, so we won't see Williams until Week 12 at the earliest. He's worth keeping stashed in the vast majority of fantasy leagues considering how productive he was before going down. We'll get our first look at the Rams' Williams-less backfield in tomorrow's game vs. the Steelers.

        Kyren Williams "week-to-week"

Rams HC Sean McVay labeled RB Kyren Williams "week-to-week" with his ankle injury and admitted that the team is still discussing whether to place him on short-term IR. Williams had his left ankle in a "cast-like material" and was using a scooter at practice on Wednesday, per The Athletic's Jourdan Rodrigue. At this point, it'd be a surprise if Williams played again before the Rams' Week 10 bye.

        Ronnie Rivers has PCL sprain

The Rams believe RB Ronnie Rivers has a PCL sprain that "could keep him out a few weeks," according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. It's particularly noteworthy with RB Kyren Williams dealing with an ankle injury. Rookie Zach Evans is the only healthy RB on the Rams' active roster. RB Royce Freeman is on the practice squad.

Update: Rivers has a Grade 3 PCL sprain and is expected to miss 4-5 weeks, according to Rapoport. Rivers figures to land on short-term IR.
