The Patriots might miss S Patrick Chung (foot) and LB Dont'a Hightower (knee) Sunday against the Jets. Both enter the weekend questionable. Chung's listed with the foot issue that he has played through for several weeks rather than the hip injury he suffered in the 4th quarter last week. So we'd expect him to play. In the same game, Hightower aggravated an existing knee injury that had already cost him games. We'd bet on at least a smaller role for him if he's active against the Jets. Don't plan to use Hightower in your IDP lineup.
Patriots S Patrick Chung suffered a hip injury late in Sunday's win over the Titans when he appeared to take a helmet shot to the area. Chung could be seen walking slowly toward the locker room. We'll see about his status heading into a Week 16 meeting with the Jets. Given that it's New England, don't expect much clarity on the situation at least until close to game time.
Patriots OLB Jamie Collins is active for today's game against the Eagles after missing the past 4 games because of an illness. We can't know whether he'll play his usual snap allotment, but Collins is worth the risk for most IDP owners. S Patrick Chung (foot) is also active after entering the day questionable. LB Dont'a Hightower is inactive, though, a week after suffering a knee injury in the loss at Denver. He practiced this week, so we'd bet on him returning for Week 14. But this is New England, so we'll see. Overall, the Patriots' team D makes for a high-upside fantasy play against Philly this week.
The Eagles have signed former Saints S Malcolm Jenkins to a reported 3-year, $16.25 million deal. That clearly positions the 26-year-old as an immediate starter -- and likely the team's best safety since it let Brian Dawkins walk in free agency 5 years ago. Jenkins lost 5 games to injury over his past 2 seasons and has yet to play a full 16 in his 5-year career. He posted a top 5 scoring average among fantasy DBs in 2012, though, and has displayed cross-category ability. He could work his way into a sleeper spot in our 2014 IDP rankings. Philadelphia also released S Patrick Chung on Tuesday, just a year after signing him in free agency.
The busy Eagles have announced they signed former Patriots S Patrick Chung. Once a favorite IDP breakout candidate, Chung let fantasy owners down by losing 14 games to various injuries over the past 3 seasons. Even when he was healthy last year, Chung lost his full-time role in a crowded backfield. Chung left Oregon for the NFL just as Chip Kelly was taking over the HC post. But Kelly spent the previous 2 years as OC for the Ducks. So he's obviously familiar with Chung. The most obvious move would be to slot Chung into the Eagles' starting SS job. We'll see how the rest of the action sorts out, though. Philly would probably like to replace both starters at the back end.
The Patriots have ruled S Patrick Chung out for the 5th straight game with a foot injury. The safety position remains a jumble of questionable fantasy options at best, including players not even eligible (Matt Slater).
Patriots S Patrick Chung is inactive for the 4th straight week because of a foot injury. Shalise Manza Young of the Boston Globe reports she was told earlier in the week that Chung would return for the Week 14 meeting with Washington. CB Devin McCourty, meanwhile, is active for today's matchup with the Colts. He missed the past 2 games after separating a shoulder.
Patriots S Patrick Chung is inactive for the 3rd straight game with a foot injury. Starting LCB Devin McCourty is also out again with his dislocated shoulder. Those 2 absences can't hurt Vince Young and the Philly passing game.
Patriots S Patrick Chung is inactive for tonight's game with the foot injury that kept him out last week. The Patriots leave no obvious fantasy fill-in in his place. Anyone caught without IDP insurance should look at Chiefs S Kendrick Lewis or CB Brandon Carr.
Patriots S Patrick Chung put in limited practices all week after missing last Sunday's win over the Jets with a foot injury. The team has yet to announce whether or how much he'll play Monday night against the Chiefs, though. The late start will make it tough for IDP owners to wait. For anyone who does, Sterling Moore would figure to get the start if Chung sits again.
The Patriots will definitely be without a couple of starting LBs for Sunday's matchup with the Jets. MLB Brandon Spikes has been ruled out because of a knee injury, and OLB Dane Fletcher with a thumb injury. LB Gary Guyton is questionable with his own shoulder ailment but should be in for a start if he's active. S Patrick Chung is also questionable after missing practice Wednesday and Thursday before limited work Friday. HC Bill Belichick told reporters that Chung hasn't been able to do much on his injured foot, making the safety a risky IDP play.
What a surprise: a curveball from the Pats. A day after it was reported that S Patrick Chung would miss this weekend's matchup with the Bills, New England lists him as "questionable." His owners will probably have to wait until Sunday morning to know whether Chung's playing. If he's active, he should be fine for IDP purposes. At least it's a 1 p.m. ET start. ILB Jerod Mayo is also questionable with a thigh injury that limited him in practice this week. Our guess would be that he'll play, but we'll obviously keep an eye on his status.
Patriots SS Patrick Chung will miss Sunday's visit to Buffalo after this week's surgery to stabilize his broken thumb. The injury isn't expected to keep him out long, but no timetable is clear yet. Sergio Brown, Josh Barrett and James Ihedigbo are all expected to see time in Chung's absence. Brown would be our 1st choice for IDP purposes, but none is a strong play.
Patriots S Patrick Chung apparently had surgery on his right thumb this week, according to ESPNBoston.com's Mike Reiss. Chung injured the thumb in Sunday's matchup with the Chargers but finished the contest with a cast on it. No further details have been released yet. Chung missed practice on Wednesday. We'd like to assume that his return during the game in which he got injured indicates Chung won't miss any time, but we'll have to see what this week's injury reports show.
