49ers RB Jeff Wilson recently underwent surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his knee, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports. Wilson is expected to be sidelined 4 to 6 months, which keeps him out until sometime between mid-September and mid-November. He signed a fully guaranteed 1-year, $2 million deal this offseason, so Wilson's roster spot should be safe. But he's a candidate to open the season on the PUP list. We'll keep an eye on his rehab this summer, but Wilson isn't worth a pick in early fantasy drafts. His injury makes the 49ers backfield a bit less crowded, with Raheem Mostert, Wayne Gallman and rookies Trey Sermon and Elijah Mitchell now vying for snaps. The hype train is speeding down the tracks for Sermon, who's going in the 7th round of recent FFPC drafts.

49ers RB Raheem Mostert re-injured his left ankle in the 3rd quarter of Sunday's game against the Cowboys. We'll pass along an update when we get one, but it sure looks like Mostert's day is over.

49ers RB Raheem Mostert (ankle) put in a full practice on Friday and isn't listed on the final injury report. So he should be ready for his usual role vs. the Cowboys this weekend. Mostert has worked in a committee alongside RB Jeff Wilson the past 3 weeks, leading in carries 39 to 30 but trailing 8 to 7 in targets.

49ers RB Raheem Mostert (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday. We don't have any details on the ankle injury, but he's clearly in some danger of missing this weekend's game vs. Dallas. Mostert's absence would presumably make Jeff Wilson San Francisco's lead back, with Tevin Coleman and Jerick McKinnon candidates for bigger roles.

49ers RB Raheem Mostert came out of Sunday's loss to Washington with an ankle injury, HC Kyle Shanahan said. Mostert was getting additional testing done on Monday, and Shanny said he'd know more about Mostert's status on Wednesday. We'll keep an eye on the situation. Jeff Wilson would seemingly be in line to operate as San Francisco's lead back vs. Dallas this weekend if Mostert is out.

Niners RB Raheem Mostert sustained a high-ankle sprain in Sunday night's win over the Rams and is headed to IR, according to Grant Cohn of SI.com. That means he'll miss at least 3 games. We'll see beyond that. Jerick McKinnon is the guy we know will be involved in replacing Mostert for Sunday's game at New England. He garnered just 8 touches for 28 total yards against the Rams, though. Jeff Wilson missed Week 6 with a calf injury he suffered during the practice week. That left rookie JaMycal Hasty working in his place against the Rams. Tevin Coleman is eligible to come off IR for Week 7, but we don't yet know whether his sprained knee will be ready. We'll see how this backfield picture develops through the week.

Niners RB Raheem Mostert left Sunday night's game against the Rams with a left ankle injury. The team ruled him out for the rest of the game, which isn't great news for his Week 7 outlook. We'll watch for further updates on his status. If Mostert misses further time, Jerick McKinnon and Jeff Wilson would step back to prominence. Tevin Coleman should also be nearing a return from the knee sprain that has kept him from playing since Week 2.

49ers RB Raheem Mostert suffered a knee injury in the 1st half of Sunday's game against the Jets and is done for the day. That leaves San Francisco with RBs Tevin Coleman and Jerick McKinnon.

49ers RB Tevin Coleman (shoulder) isn't listed on the final Super Bowl injury report after putting in a full practice on Friday. Raheem Mostert figures to get the 1st crack at lead duties after his massive NFC Championship, but this has been a hot-hand backfield for most of the season.

49ers RB Tevin Coleman was knocked out in the 1st quarter of Sunday' NFC Championship with a shoulder injury. We don't have any further details at this point, but HC Kyle Shanahan believes Coleman has a shot to be ready for the Super Bowl. "I’m hoping he’ll be all right next week," Shanny said. "I don’t totally know yet. I know he’s not ruled out or anything. I think there will be a good chance (for him to go)." We won't get any official practice updates from the 'Niners until next week. The backfield has been the ultimate hot-hand situation this postseason, with Coleman controlling in the Divisional Round and Raheem Mostert exploding for a 29-220-4 rushing line in the win over the Packers.

Update: Shanahan said Monday afternoon that Coleman dislocated his shoulder and reiterated that Coleman has a chance to play in the Super Bowl.

49ers RB Matt Breida (ankle) put in a full week of practice and isn’t listed on the final injury report. He’ll return to the backfield alongside Tevin Coleman and Raheem Mostert for Sunday’s game against the Saints. It’s anyone’s guess as to how touches will be divvied between those 3, leaving them all as risk/reward RB3 or flex plays.

49ers RB Matt Breida is expected to miss "a week or 2" with his latest ankle injury, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. That'll make Raheem Mostert San Francisco's #2 RB for at least this weekend's game against the Cardinals. Mostert projects for 8 to 12 carries, putting him on the RB3 map.
