DFS Showdown Tips: Falcons-Packers

By Matt Schauf 6:10pm EDT 10/5/20

COVID has made this week of fantasy football a pain, but tonight it gives us the gift of a Monday-night doubleheader.

The 2nd -- and original -- contest includes a pair of productive fantasy passers, though 1 will be without his top 2 wideouts. The other gets all 3 of his back from injuries that had them starting the week looking questionable.

Who will deliver the points to win you some Week 4 showdown cash?

DraftKings

AJ Dillon is a mirage at the top of this list. A $200 salary makes you the top value in the chart if you carry any projection. Dillon has played just 12 total snaps through 3 games, and none of his carries have even come in the red zone. Of course, if he does happen to punch 1 in tonight, he’d likely propel a lot of showdown lineups.

Jace Sternberger is more interesting as a cheap target to unlock the higher-salary plays. His playing time climbed slightly each of the past 2 weeks, and Sternberger caught all 3 of his targets (for 36 yards) last week, with Adams inactive. Now that Green Bay also must go without Week 3’s leading WR, Allen Lazard, it would make even more sense to feature their TEs.AJ Dillon is a mirage at the top of this list. Brian Hill has nearly matched Todd Gurley in pass routes in 2 of 3 games so far. That included running 13 vs. Gurley’s 14 last week. Hill has matched Gurley at 7 targets on the season and leads him in catches (5-3) and receiving yards (41-3).

Not in the table are a couple of cheap Packers wideouts worth considering: Malik Taylor and Darrius Shepherd. Taylor has been on the active roster all season, whereas Shepherd only joined before the New Orleans game. But Shepherd played 23 snaps to Taylor’s 4 in that contest and checks in at a minimum-price $200.

FanDuel

The top of this chart looks like a good way to start your primary showdown build for this game on FanDuel. None of the wideouts is likely to pay off big without bringing his QB along, and the beefy salaries on the top Atlanta pass-catchers leave little room for that 5th guy.

If you do roster that top 4 -- with room to play around on who sits in the “MVP” seat -- you’ll have $7500 left for your 5th slot. Robert Tonyan, Brian Hill and and Jamaal Williams look like the top options for that final position. Any of the 3 is capable of stealing a TD from the spotlight players. Williams didn’t see any boost to his playing time with Davante Adams out last week. He did, however, log 11 receptions and 3 TD catches in the 3 games he played without Adams last year -- plus another 6 catches and a TD the week Adams returned.
