Week 3 FanDuel Tournament Picks

QBs

Josh Allen ($8,100)

Allen has been an absolute monster this season, averaging over 30 fantasy points through 2 games. The Bills have been the most pass-heavy team in the league; Allen has elite rushing upside; and he’s consistently low-owned because people think he isn’t a good real-life QB.

Allen ranks 6^th in dollars per projected fantasy point and will certainly be lower owned than chalkier options Russell Wilson, Kyler Murray, Cam Newton and Dak Prescott in the same price range.

The matchup shouldn’t pose too much of an issue as the Rams just have 2 elite players with DT Aaron Donald and CB Jalen Ramsey. I’ll be looking to ride the Allen heater in at least 20% of my FD GPP lineups this week.

Cam Newton ($7,700)

Cam ranks 3^rd in dollars per projected fantasy point at just $7,700 with the 2^nd highest projected ceiling on the slate (26.3 points).

Newton has 4 rushing TDs on the season as New England’s playbook is tailored for him when the Patriots get inside the 5-yard line. On top of his elite rushing upside, Cam looked tremendous throwing the football in Week 2 as he lit up the Seahawks for 397 passing yards and 1 TD.

Cam appears to be making strides with his mechanics, demonstrating a cannon arm and great accuracy on both short and long passes.

Cam will be relatively popular this week, but in a matchup against the Raiders with undersized LBs and weak CB play, I’ll be locking and loading Cam in at least 20% of my FD GPP lineups.

RBs

Miles Sanders ($7,400)

Coming off of a 20-carry, 7-target 2020 debut against the Rams, Sanders is sitting atop the dollars per projected point rankings in Week 3 against the Bengals.

The 27 opportunities were extremely promising for Sanders as he was dealing with a hamstring injury for most of training camp and missed Week 1 against the Washington Football Team.

Now Sanders gets to take on the Bengals, who were just obliterated by the Browns for 215 rushing yards (6.1 YPC) and 3 TDs.

Sanders won’t be low owned but is a borderline must play in a must-win for the Eagles at a cheap price tag of just $7,400 on FD.

Kenyan Drake ($6,500)

Drake ranks 2^nd in dollars per projected points with a projection of 13.8, which is great considering his price of just $6,500.

Drake’s usage has been solid through 2 weeks with 18 opportunities in Week 1 and 22 in Week 2. He hasn’t been efficient with his touches, averaging just 4 yards per carry. But Arizona played against 2 elite defensive lines in the 49ers and the Washington Football Team.

Now Drake gets a matchup against the Lions, who were just torched by Aaron Jones and the Packers RBs for 259 yards and 2 TDs.

With a cheap price tag, great matchup, and solid floor/ceiling combo, I will be looking to roster Drake in about 30% of my FD GPP lineups in Week 3.

WRs

Tyler Lockett ($6,800)

Lockett comes in ranked as the 4^th WR in dollars per projected point, with one of the highest projected ceilings on the slate at 18.5 FD points.

Russell Wilson has been locked in during his 2020 campaign as he is now the odds-on favorite for MVP with 9 TD passes through his first 2 games.

Russ and Lockett have always shown elite chemistry — and that has continued in 2020 with Lockett catching 15 of his 16 targets on the season.

With the highest projected total on the slate and Dallas hemorrhaging points to all positions, I will be rostering Lockett in a good portion of my FD GPP lineups in Week 3.

DeSean Jackson ($5,500)

Jackson ranks 6^th in dollars per projected point, showing some reasons for optimism in Week 2 with 6 catches on 9 targets for 64 yards in a tough matchup with the Rams.

With 16 targets on the season; Jalen Reagor going to IR; and the best matchup of the season, Jackson may be due for a spike in Week 3 against the Bengals.

TE

Jonnu Smith ($5,600)

FanDuel is notoriously slower than DraftKings to adjust prices on a week to week basis — and that’s the case once again with Jonnu Smith priced as the TE9 on FD and TE6 on DK.

With A.J. Brown missing practice again and appearing unlikely to play, Smith should be the focal point of the Titans passing game along with WR Corey Davis.

Jonnu had 7 targets in Week 1 and just 5 in Week 2. But QB Ryan Tannehill has been extremely efficient, especially on play-action passes. Smith has been his go-to guy in the red zone, with 3 TDs through 2 games.

Smith is a much better play on FD, and I will be getting my exposure to him on around 20% of lineups.

DST

Steelers ($4,700)

The Steelers have amazingly led the NFL in sacks for 3 consecutive seasons and have already compiled 10 sacks through 2 games this season. The defensive line should have no problems forcing pressure on Deshaun Watson and the Texans this week, as Watson has a propensity to hold onto the ball for too long.

As home favorites and an aggressive defensive line going up against a shaky offensive line, I will be looking to roster the Steelers defense in at least 25% of my FD GPP lineups.
