D.K. Metcalf Checked for Internal Injuries After Ravens Game

Steelers WR D.K. Metcalf stayed overnight in Baltimore after being checked into a local hospital with stomach pain. There was fear of internal injuries after taking a hard shot in the Steelers Ravens game on Sunday. Ultimately, it was done out of an adbundance of caution and he was released to fly back to Pittsburgh today.

        What They're Saying

Ian Rapoport, NFL Network: “Steelers standout WR DK Metcalf stayed overnight in Baltimore hotel after going to a local hospital following the game, a team spokesman confirmed.

Metcalf was experiencing stomach pains on the flight and out of an abundance of caution, team medical personnel sent him to a nearby hospital. He's flying back to Pittsburgh today.”

        2025 Fantasy Football Impact

Luckily it sounds like Metcalf had no internal injuries after his best fantasy performance since Week 4, going 7-148-0 on 12 targets.

The Steelers leaned heavily on the pass, throwing the ball 34 times (66.7%) compared to 17 rushes (33.3%). Metcalf benefited not only from the volume but also from the Ravens' defense covering Metcalf one-on-one for most of the early game.

The breakout game is good news for Metcalf and the Steelers’ offense going forward. With their backs against the wall, including rumors of HC Mike Tomlin being on the hot seat, the Steelers appear ready to put the ball in the hands of Aaron Rodgers.

Metcalf played the most snaps among WRs at 43. Next highest was surprisingly new addition Adam Thielen at 25. WR Roman Wilson was inactive. Metcalf still is the only consistent presence amongst the Steelers’ WRs. He also ran 33 routes. Calvin Austin and Marques Valdes-Scantling were next highest at 16.

The run game wasn’t working at all with Kenneth Gainwell leading the backfield going 4-15-0 on the ground while Jaylen Warren went 8-13-0. Both RBs had success through the air with Gainwell going 6-27-0 and Warren going 3-49-1. If that trend continues, the Steelers could continue putting the ball into the air.

Metcalf and the Steelers passing game could be lucrative in the fantasy playoffs. They face no negative match-ups against the Dolphins, Lions and Browns. The Lions are a positive match-up, while the Browns are trending weaker against the pass in recent weeks.

Despite his low floor, Metcalf is worth sticking in your lineup moving forward since it appears the internal injury check was just a precaution.
