WR Michael Pittman has been traded from the Indianapolis Colts to the Pittsburgh Steelers. After signing Alec Pierce to a $28.5 million average annual salary, the Colts will move on from Pittman. The Steelers had little receiving depth behind WR D.K. Metcalf, so Pittman adds a No. 2 possession WR for HC Mike McCarthy's new offense. Unfortunately, the uncertainty around the Steelers QB position still makes Pittman a shaky fantasy asset, even if Aaron Rodgers returns.
What They're Saying
Adam Schefter of ESPN: "Trade: Michael Pittman is being traded to the Steelers.
Trade terms: Teams are swapping late-round picks.
The Steelers are signing their new WR Michael Pittman to a three-year, $59 million deal."
2026 Fantasy Football Impact
Pierce sits as the big winner, being paid as a No.1 WR and losing target competition with Pittman moving on. TE Tyler Warren and WR Josh Downs should benefit as well.
The Steelers acquired Pittman as their No. 2 WR for little trade cost, with only a late-round pick swap. The new offense should lean on throwing the ball more, at least. But until the QB situation is resolved, it will be tough to trust Pittman as a consistent fantasy asset in 2026.
Dynasty Impact
Pittman could be an intriguing dynasty value. With the Steelers potentially in position to draft a young QB in 2026 or 2027, the passing game could come together under McCarthy to be better than we saw under Mike Tomlin.
