Texans GM Nick Caserio chose his words carefully when responding to a question about WR Tank Dell's availability for the start of training camp. Dell is working his way back from ACL, MCL, LCL, and meniscus injuries suffered in December 2024. "With Tank, honestly, it’s probably a day to day, and we’ll kinda see where he is," Caserio said. "Probably have a better idea as we get through the spring, of what his availability is gonna be in training camp. He’s been here pretty religiously since he’s been able to do more, as he’s kinda gotten out of the rehab stage."
What They're Saying
HC Demeco Ryans on Dell: "He's grinding. Great attitude. Don't know if OTAs he'll be there, but I know he'll back for us at some point this year. As I told Tank, it's not a matter of getting back to OTAs just to get back, it's just a matter of getting back in a really good spot physically to where you stay there. That's the main thing. It's not about how quickly he returns. It's just about Tank returning because we saw what Tank can do, the playmaking that he provides to our entire team. Just getting him back, whenever that time is, it's going to lift our team."
2026 Fantasy Football Impact
Caserio sounded more optimistic about Dell back in January, but it seems like his progress might have slowed since. Consider it a reminder of the seriousness of Dell's injury -- and that he's not a lock to be a major factor for the Texans or fantasy managers going forward.
We'll continue to track Dell's progress into this summer, but he's a risky pick even at the very end of fantasy drafts right now.
Other Winners & Losers
Nico Collins is locked in as the alpha in Houston's passing game. Dell and second-year WRs Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel will be fighting for snaps and targets behind Collins.
Any setbacks or lack of progress for Dell would be good news for the youngsters. We highlighted Higgins in our 2026 Sleepers article.
