Broncos HC Sean Payton said Saturday that he expects QB Bo Nix (ankle) to be cleared “full speed by training camp.” Nix should also participate in June minicamp.
What They're Saying
Payton told the Denver Post more about Nix’s late-April follow-up procedure:
“We’re going to be the ones kind of holding him back, if you will. The follow-up procedure [on his ankle] was not a surprise. I was just talking to [vice president of player health and performance Beau Lowery], we had five other players that had staged surgeries where there’s a step, they evaluate and then there’s a second step. He was the sixth that actually went through that. No surprises. We feel real good about where he’s at. You guys will have a chance to see that here in a few weeks."
2026 Fantasy Football Impact
The quick recovery will give Nix valuable reps with new WR Jaylen Waddle.
Adding a top talent like Waddle should help Nix's efficiency after he tallied a 62.9% completion rate and just 6.4 yards per attempt on a league-high 612 attempts. Both efficiency marks ranked outside the top 20 among 29 QBs with 300+ attempts.
Nix also logged 83 carries, 356 yards, and 5 TDs, tying for ninth league-wide in scrambles. We'll watch for any clues on potential changes to the QB run game after the ankle injury.
Nix sits 13th in our QB rankings, right in line with his early Underdog ADP.
