Jets TE Kenyon Sadiq took the field Wednesday for the start of training camp, confirming that he and the team appropriately timed his "minor procedure" to address a hernia. The issue had lingered since Sadiq's final college season, and HC Aaron Glenn said back in May that they expected the rookie to be ready for training camp.

"Play a role" doesn't tell us much, of course. We all could have guessed that the 16th overall pick would do something for the 2026 Jets. The question is how much.
Starting camp on time obviously helps the chances of that role getting more significant. "Complementing" Taylor -- a second-round pick in 2025 -- indicates plans to run the TEs together at least in certain formations. That also makes sense for an offense that hasn't been deep at WR.
However, the amount of two-TE sets will matter for Sadiq and the wideouts, especially fellow rookie Omar Cooper Jr. The former Indiana Hoosier ran primarily from the slot in his breakthrough final college campaign. That would put him in the same area of the field as the tight ends.
For now, no Jet beyond RB Breece Hall and WR Garrett Wilson looks like more than a late-round flier. We'll find out through camp and the preseason who has the best chance at achieving more in 2026.
