MarShawn Lloyd Headshot

Packers RB MarShawn Lloyd had a healthy and impressive spring. He's carried that momentum into the early stages of training camp, working in with the first-team offense and flashing his big-play ability.

What They're Saying

The Athletic's Matt Schneidman: "The flashes from running back MarShawn Lloyd continue. On one play Wednesday, he bounced a middle run outside like he was shot out of a cannon and darted around St-Juste to the edge for a touchdown. His unique speed and explosiveness were evident once again. There’s nothing like it in the Packers’ running back room. He just has to stay healthy.”

Mike Spofford of the Packers' official site: “During 11-on-11, [MarShawn] Lloyd got started with the second unit, outrunning defenders to the pylon for a TD. He later took some first-team reps in Jacobs' place.”

2026 Fantasy Football Impact: A Priority Late-Round Target

We've never doubted Lloyd's talent. He averaged 5.6 yards per carry across three college seasons, including 7.1 in his 2023 junior campaign. 15.7% of his carries went for 15+ yards in 2023, the highest rate of any RB in the 2024 draft class.

Lloyd then clocked a 4.46-second 40 time at 220 pounds, earning an 86th percentile Speed Score.

Multiple injuries have limited him to just 10 snaps through two NFL seasons. But Lloyd spent months this offseason working with a biomechanics specialist who found he was overcompensating for his 2020 ACL tear, leading to ankle, hip, and quad deficiencies.

If Lloyd has truly solved his health woes, he should have no problem winning the No. 2 job in a Packers backfield that lost Emanuel Wilson this offseason. Chris Brooks is back, but he's uninspiring and currently sidelined with a hamstring injury.

We're not yet expecting Lloyd to be a fantasy option behind a healthy Josh Jacobs, although we're not totally ruling it out. At the least, Lloyd looks like a high-end handcuff behind a 28-year-old starter who has missed time in five of seven NFL seasons.

He's a priority target in the final few rounds of fantasy drafts.
