After Teddy Bridgewater retired earlier in the day, the Lions were quick to sign Josh Dobbs to a one-year, $1.425 million contract to be their backup QB, per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.
2026 Fantasy Football Impact: The Offense Sinks Fast
Goff hasn’t missed a start for the Lions in four seasons, and we’re hoping he makes it five. If Dobbs is starting, something has obviously gone wrong.
Dobbs does have a semi-recent productive fantasy season under his belt, from 2023, when he started 14 games for the Cardinals and Vikings and posted 17.0 fantasy points per game.
But even in Dobbs' most productive season, his 12.0 passing PPG would be the clear lowest mark of Goff's previous nine seasons. Goff has averaged 21.4 over the past three seasons.
Dobbs is a quality backup for the Lions, but if he's forced into anything more, fantasy production from this offense plummets.
