Saquon Barkley Headshot

The Eagles star running-back appeared to tweak his ankle during practice. Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports that “During the last period Saquon Barkley was getting his left ankle checked out by a trainer. He never went to the tent but still has his cleat off.”

2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Ankle Watch Starts Early

Barkley's Eagles tenure has delivered contrasting results. In the season before last Barkley sat atop the running back position in fantasy points per game (PPG) with a whopping 22.1.

But last season, he posted the second-lowest fantasy points-per-game mark of his career at 13.6.

Despite carry share and target share nearly matching the prior season, Barkley was far less efficient. After averaging 3.44 yards per team rush attempt in 2024, Barkley fell to 2.41 last season, outside the top 12 among RBs.

With Barkley aiming for a bounce-back season closer to his Eagles debut, health will be critical. So, a possible injured ankle report before the preseason games kick off is concerning.

Thankfully, it does appear minor.
