Jeremiyah Love Headshot

The news keeps getting worse for Cardinals RB Jeremiyah Love. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the rookie has been diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain. "It makes it unlikely that Love plays again this preseason, with the team hoping he can return for the Sept. 13 regular-season opener vs the Chargers," Schefter adds.

2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Projections Slashed

Love's injury has gone from tweak to high-ankle sprain in a matter of days, putting his early-season fantasy value at risk.

High-ankle sprains typically sideline players for 4 to 6 weeks. Love will be a little over 4 weeks removed from his injury when the Cardinals kick off their season. That puts him in legitimate danger of missing the opener, and maybe another game.

High-ankle sprains can also sap production even after a player returns.

For now, we're still projecting Love to play Week 1 but have slashed his projections for the first 2 games of the season.

Other Winners & Losers: Allgeier Gets a Bump

RB Tyler Allgeier would at least be a low-end fantasy starter if Love isn't ready for the start of the season. He inked a 2-year, $12.25 million deal with Arizona in free agency and sits second on the depth chart.

But Allgeier has never offered much in the passing game, and RB James Conner would also figure into the backfield, keeping Allgeier's ceiling in check.
