Quentin Johnston Headshot

Shortly after scoring a TD during a joint practice between the Chargers and 49ers, Quentin Johnston went down with a lower-body injury. Kris Rhim of ESPN said that “Johnston just came up limping after attempting to make a leaping catch on the sideline.”

2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Herbert Keeps The Door Open

Johnston has been a formidable weapon for Justin Herbert over the previous two years, posting at least 11.0 PPR fantasy points per game (PPG) in both seasons while commanding over a 20% target share the season before last.

Herbert ranked inside the top 10 quarterbacks in passing PPG last season with 17.4. Despite being ranked so high, that number is actually the second lowest mark of his six year career so far. We’ve seen him achieve as high as 23.4 passing PPG.

Johnston might not offer elite-WR upside, but this offense can still turn him into a useful fantasy piece.

He’s in line to be the second-leading target earner in a high-end passing offense, but he’ll need to be healthy to take advantage. We’ll update if this injury ends up causing missed time for Johnston.
