In the same offseason that the Jaguars have already extended one of their wide receivers, Jakobi Meyers,, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reports that Parker Washington could be the next to get a long-term extension before Week 1. The Jaguars open their season against the Browns exactly one week from today.
2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Extension Would Back The Breakout
Washington is coming off a breakout season in one of the league’s highest-scoring offenses. He boosted his target share up to 17.9% and his yards per team pass attempt to 1.60. That helped Washington produce 10.5 PPR points per game (PPG) in his third season since being drafted out of Penn State.
But it’s not what he produced that has fantasy managers excited for the upcoming campaign. It’s what he showed he’s capable of. When Washington was on the field last season, he earned a target on 23.1% of his routes while averaging 2.06 yards per route run.
He was one of just 14 other wide receivers to post at least a 23.0% target rate and 2.00 yards per route run last season. Twelve of the 13 others enter this fantasy season more expensive than Washington, who’s going in the sixth round of drafts.
Washington is expected to be on the field at a higher rate than he was last season. If he can retain the efficiency he showed last season, he will pay off his sixth-round average draft position.
If the Jaguars extend him before the season kicks off, they'll be signaling that they believe he can retain that efficiency.
