Seahawks RB Jadarian Price carried 10 times for 52 yards in his debut against the Patriots on Wednesday night. He added 6 yards on 2 receptions. RBs George Holani and Emanuel Wilson combined for 10 carries and 32 yards, with Holani seeing the only other RB target.
2026 Fantasy Football Impact: RB3 For Now
If you'd been following the reports out of Seattle, this usage was about what we expected out of the gate. Price controlled early downs, playing 66% of those snaps, while Holani handled all 10 of Seattle's third-down snaps, per Pro Football Focus. The short-yardage split was 2 snaps for Holani, 2 for Wilson, and 1 for Price. Wilson also got the only snap inside the Patriots' 5-yard line, though a delay of game penalty wiped out the play.
Price will get more than 10 carries in this role when the Seahawks are playing with a lead. (They only led for the final 6 minutes of Wednesday night's win.) But losing half of the RB carries, most of the short-yardage work, and all of the third-down work would make it tough for him to ascend beyond RB3 status.
The good news is that Price was clearly Seattle's best RB in the opener, averaging 5.2 yards per carry and 3.0 yards after contact per carry, per PPF. Holani and Wilson combined for just 3.2 yards per carry and 1.9 yards after contact per carry.
The rookie's role should only grow from here. We could envision him taking a bigger share of the carries, short-yardage work, and goal-line snaps, although Holani figures to keep the third-down role in the short term.
The other variable is QB Sam Darnold's hip injury, which is expected to cost him some time. QB Drew Lock is a downgrade, which could mean fewer positive game scripts for Seattle.
That shouldn't be a problem in Week 2 against the Cardinals. Price will be worth rolling the dice on as an upside RB3 in that one. We'll continue to keep a close eye on his usage.
