Metcalf caught just 2 of 6 targets, but turned them into 56 yards, including a 51-yarder that’s his longest catch of the season. He ran a route on 97% of dropbacks and drew an 18% target rate per route run with 1.70 yards per route run. His 18.5-yard aDOT shows how the Steelers use him, primarily outside with just 15% of his snaps in the slot. Metcalf tied Rico Dowdle for the team lead with a 22% target share. He finished as WR33 for the week.
2026 Fantasy Football Impact
Inconsistent hands have been the theme of his season. Metcalf has caught just 32 of 58 targets (55.2%) for 374 yards. He has 4 catches of 20+ yards and two of 40+, but only 1 TD to show for his downfield role. The opportunity remains strong with Pittman and Roman Wilson on IR and Ben Skowronek out again with a calf injury. Germie Bernard is the only other full-time WR (97% route share), but he managed just 0.82 yards per route run.
The Steelers host Cleveland in Week 8, then visit Cincinnati in Week 10 after their bye. Heading into Week 7, the Browns ranked 12th in fantasy points allowed to WRs (33.45 per game), a decent spot for a bounce-back. The Bengals have been tougher, ranking 25th (29.28). Metcalf’s deep role makes him boom-or-bust every week, but the volume keeps him in WR2 range, especially against Cleveland.
