Following Wednesday morning reports that the Patriots were releasing CB Stephon Gilmore, the Panthers swooped in to get him for a 2023 third-round pick. The veteran corner must remain on the PUP list through 6 weeks for a quad injury. Beyond that, though, trading for his big contract (about $5.8 million left this year) says that Carolina plans to start Gilmore. That begs the question of whether C.J. Henderson -- acquired from Jacksonville in another recent trade -- will have room to enter the lineup. The Panthers lost CB Jaycee Horn to a foot injury, but Donte Jackson has been holding down the other side. None is likely to be much of an IDP factor, though, so that question doesn't matter too much for fantasy football purposes. Overall, we'd have to say Carolina has enhanced a unit that has started 2021 well.

The Panthers are set to trade TE Dan Arnold and a 3rd-round pick to the Jaguars in exchange for CB C.J. Henderson, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Henderson was the 9th overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft but has obviously fallen out of favor in Jacksonville. It's a good pickup for the Panthers, who just lost rookie CB Jaycee Horn to a broken foot. Meanwhile, Arnold will have a good shot to emerge as the lead TE for a Jaguars team in desperate need of help at the position. Arnold will be worth monitoring -- but we'd only be adding him in deep fantasy leagues at this point. Carolina is left with Ian Thomas and rookie Tommy Tremble at TE.

Jaguars CB Sidney Jones (Achilles' tendon) is out for today's game against the Steelers. C.J. Henderson, Tre Herndon and D.J. Hayden look like the top 3 Jacksonville corners against Pittsburgh in a terrific matchup for the Steelers' entire offense.

Jaguars CB C.J. Henderson (shoulder) and LB Myles Jack (ankle) are inactive for today's game against the Texans. Rookie CB Chris Claybrooks will start in Henderson's place. Dakota Allen will start in place of Jack. Both carry IDP upside, though there's also the uncertainty of less-proven players.

Jaguars DE Josh Allen (knee), LB Myles Jack (ankle) and CB C.J. Henderson (shoulder) are questionable for Sunday's game against the Texans. Jack is the only one worth waiting on for IDP lineups. Allen missed practice all week. The other 2 put in limited practices Thursday and Friday. We'll check the status of all 3 when the inactives come out Sunday morning.

Jaguars CB C.J. Henderson left Sunday's loss to the Bengals with a shoulder injury. He played just 12 snaps before leaving for the rest of the game. Seventh-round rookie Chris Claybrooks stepped in to play 72% of the snaps. We'll see about Henderson's status heading into Week 5 against Houston.

The Falcons chose Florida CB C.J. Henderson with the 9th pick of the NFL Draft, making him the 2nd corner off the board. Henderson grabbed 4 INTs as a true freshman in 2017 and then broke up 16 passes -- with 2 INTs -- as a starter over the past 2 years. Despite 0 picks in 2019, he brings upside in coverage. Henderson also brings questions about his tackling, though, and totaled just 66 solos tackles across 3 college seasons. We're not excited about his IDP outlook, either for dynasty or redraft. Henderson's arrival should, however, help a Jacksonville defense that has shed starters Jalen Ramsey and A.J. Bouye over the past year.
