Stephon Gilmore Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

The Colts are signing CB Stephon Gilmore to a 2-year deal, according to multiple reports. The move lands Indy's defense the top remaining corner on the market and a guy capable of performing as 1 of the top cover men in the league. Gilmore hasn't been much of an IDP factor throughout his career, though, and shouldn't be counted on for worthwhile fantasy numbers in his new spot.

Panthers LB Shaq Thompson (foot) is active for today's game against the Falcons. He hasn't played since Week 4 because of the foot injury. CB Stephon Gilmore is also off the PUP and set to make his debut for what should be an improved Carolina defense.

Following Wednesday morning reports that the Patriots were releasing CB Stephon Gilmore, the Panthers swooped in to get him for a 2023 third-round pick. The veteran corner must remain on the PUP list through 6 weeks for a quad injury. Beyond that, though, trading for his big contract (about $5.8 million left this year) says that Carolina plans to start Gilmore. That begs the question of whether C.J. Henderson -- acquired from Jacksonville in another recent trade -- will have room to enter the lineup. The Panthers lost CB Jaycee Horn to a foot injury, but Donte Jackson has been holding down the other side. None is likely to be much of an IDP factor, though, so that question doesn't matter too much for fantasy football purposes. Overall, we'd have to say Carolina has enhanced a unit that has started 2021 well.

The Patriots have placed CB Stephon Gilmore on the PUP list to open the regular season, as he continues to work back from quad surgery at the end of 2020. The designation means Gilmore will miss at least the 1st 6 games. That leaves room for Jalen Mills to open the year as a full-time player. A CB-safety hybrid at this point, Mills carries some late intrigue in IDP drafts.

Patriots LB Ja'Whaun Bentley (groin), DB Kyle Dugger (toe) and CB Stephon Gilmore (hand) are active for today's game against the Cardinals. Each hit the day questionable. None is a strong IDP candidate, but they're available if you've had them in your plans.

Basically any questionable Patriots defensive player in play for IDP use is active today vs. Houston. That includes CB Stephon Gilmore (knee), LB Ja'Whaun Bentley (groin), DE Deatrich Wise (knee, hand), DE John Simon (elbow) and DE Lawrence Guy (shoulder, elbow, knee).

Let's just list the Patriots defensive players who are questionable for Sunday's game against the Texans:

LB Ja'Whaun Bentley (groin)
DE Deatrich Wise (knee, hand)
DE John Simon (elbow)
DE Lawrence Guy (shoulder, elbow, knee)
CB Stephon Gilmore (knee)

Gilmore sounds like he expects to return after missing the past 3 games. None of these guys makes for a strong IDP play, but we'll check all their statuses Sunday morning.

The multitude of questionable Patriots for Sunday night's game against the Ravens includes DE Deatrich Wise, DE John Simon, LB Ja'Whaun Bentley and CB Stephon Gilmore. None of the 4 saw meaningful changes to their practice participation vs. last week. Gilmore and Bentley missed that game (against the Jets. Wise and Simon played through questionable tags.

The Patriots list a bunch of defensive players as questionable for Monday night's game against the Jets. That includes DE Lawrence Guy (shoulder, elbow, knee), CB Stephon Gilmore (knee), DE Shilique Calhoun (knee), LB Ja'Whaun Bentley (groin), DE Deatrich Wise (knee, hand), CB J.C. Jackson (knee) and DE John Simon (elbow). None of those guys is a high-level IDP option, so they're likely not worth waiting on in setting your fantasy lineup. But we'll see who's in and who's out Monday evening.

The Patriots have downgraded CB Stephon Gilmore (knee) to out for today's game against the Bills. That improves the matchup for Buffalo's lead wideout, Stefon Diggs.

Patriots CBs Stephon Gilmore and J.C. Jackson are both questionable for Sunday's game against the Bills after suffering knee injuries during the practice week. Gilmore's injury happened Thursday. An MRI came back negative, but he sat out Friday's practice. Jackson left Friday's workout early with his ailment after not showing up on the injury report the previous 2 days. Missing either or both would obviously hurt an already struggling defense and improve the matchup for Buffalo WRs Stefon Diggs and/or John Brown -- as well as QB Josh Allen. DE John Simon is also questionable with a shoulder issue that limited him in practice all week.

Patriots CB Stephon Gilmore left Thursday's practice after he "tweaked" a knee, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The injury was apparently deemed minor after an MRI, but it's not yet clear whether it will keep him out of Sunday's game against the Bills. Losing Gilmore would improve the matchup for Buffalo WR Stefon Diggs.

Patriots CB Stephon Gilmore has tested positive for COVID, ESPN's Field Yates reports. Gilmore joins QB Cam Newton and practice squad DT Bill Murray on New England's COVID list. The Patriots' game against the Broncos this Sunday is now seemingly in jeopardy. Stay tuned.

The Bills have placed CB Stephon Gilmore on IR with a shoulder injury. That takes arguably the #1 corner away from their defense, though Pro Football Focus has graded rookie Ronald Darby among the league's top performers at the position. Either way, it can only weaken a defense that has already allowed 20+ points in 4 straight weeks and ranks middle of the league or worse in many pass-D categories.

The Bills have ruled out DT Marcell Dareus (knee) and CB Stephon Gilmore (concussion) for today's finale against the Patriots. Each player had been listed as doubtful. Losing 2 of their best defensive players takes some DFS sleeper appeal away from a Buffalo defense that figures to face Patriots QB Jimmy Garoppolo for half of today's contest and quite possibly see no TE Rob Gronkowski. The Bills still hold some contrarian value in a tournament lineup after already limiting Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers in recent weeks.
