Lions RB Jahmyr Gibbs scored his first NFL TD on Sunday vs. the Ravens. The rookie recorded 11 carries for 68 yards with the score as a runner and added 9 catches for 58 yards in the receiving game in Week 7. With his teammates David Montgomery (ribs) and Craig Reynolds (hamstring) banged up, Gibbs received a season-high 21 touch opportunities and converted these efforts into 27.6 PPR points. Though the Lions failed to secure a victory, fantasy managers who remained patient with the first-year back were rewarded handsomely. We’ll see if Gibbs can capitalize on his newfound success in Week 8 vs. the Raiders. The health of Montgomery will likely play a big factor in how we view Gibbs next week, so be sure to keep up with Detroit’s practice reports in the coming days.

Lions RB Craig Reynolds (hamstring, toe) is active for today’s game vs. the Ravens. He figures to serve as the No. 2 RB behind Jahmyr Gibbs. Last time RB David Montgomery was out and Gibbs played, Reynolds finished with just four carries and zero targets.

Lions RB Craig Reynolds (hamstring, toe) is expected to play vs. the Ravens today, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Reynolds should operate as Detroit's No. 2 RB behind rookie Jahmyr Gibbs. But between the injuries and a difficult matchup, Reynolds is a weak RB3 option.

Lions RB Jahmyr Gibbs (hamstring) is not listed on the final Week 7 injury report after putting in a full practice on Friday. RB David Montgomery (ribs) is out, while RB Craig Reynolds (hamstring, toe) is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game vs. the Ravens. We’ll see if Reynolds ends up active, but HC Dan Campbell confirmed Friday that Gibbs will lead the backfield this weekend. He handled 17 carries and two targets on a 60% snap rate with Montgomery out back in Week 3.

Lions RB Craig Reynolds (hamstring, toe) returned to a limited practice on Thursday. That should put him on track to play vs. the Ravens this weekend, but we'll get another update on his status tomorrow. RB Jahmyr Gibbs (hamstring) remained limited on Thursday. He's expected to play this weekend.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport confirms that Lions RB Jahmyr Gibbs (hamstring) is trending toward returning for this weekend's game vs. the Ravens. The rookie got in a limited practice on Wednesday. He'll carry elevated risk in Week 7 fantasy lineups coming off a multi-week hamstring injury. But the Lions will need Gibbs to play a significant role with RB David Montgomery out and RB Craig Reynolds dealing with hamstring and toe injuries.

Lions RBs David Montgomery (ribs) and Craig Reynolds (hamstring, toe) did not practice on Wednesday. Montgomery is not expected to play vs. the Ravens this weekend. This is the first we've heard of Reynolds' injuries, but his status for Sunday's game is now uncertain. RB Jahmyr Gibbs (hamstring) got in a limited practice on Wednesday after HC Dan Campbell said earlier this week that the rookie was trending toward returning for the Ravens game. We'll get another update on this banged-up backfield tomorrow.

Lions HC Dan Campbell suggested Monday that RB Jahmyr Gibbs (hamstring) has a good chance to return for this weekend's game vs. the Ravens. "Feel a lot better about Gibbs this week," Campbell said. "He ran really well on Saturday before we left (for Tampa Bay) and had another really good workout today." Gibbs' return would be well-timed considering Detroit will be without RB David Montgomery. Gibbs tallied 17 carries and two targets on a 60% snap rate when Montgomery missed Week 3.

Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports that it "sounds like Lions RB David Montgomery will miss some time" after suffering a rib injury in Sunday's win over the Buccaneers. We'll watch for more details on Montgomery's outlook, but you should plan to miss him for at least the Week 7 visit to Baltimore. That will make RB Craig Reynolds a popular option on waiver this week. Be careful not to overplay that one, though. Baltimore entered Week 6 as the No. 2 defense in overall DVOA and seventh-best against the run. Rookie Jahmyr Gibbs also figures to return soon from his injury.

Lions RB David Montgomery is questionable to return to Sunday's game vs. the Bucs with a rib injury. With RB Jahmyr Gibbs out with his hamstring injury, Detroit is down to Craig Reynolds as lead back. We'll update Montgomery's status when we know more.

Update: Montgomery has been ruled out.

Update: X-rays on Montgomery's ribs came back clean, according to Fox’s Pam Oliver.

Lions RB Jahmyr Gibbs (hamstring) is out for this weekend's game vs. the Bucs. He's yet to practice since hurting his hamstring last Friday. We'll see if the rookie can make it back for Week 7. Gibbs' absence this week leaves Craig Reynolds as Detroit's No. 2 RB and David Montgomery in a workhorse role. Montgomery racked up 19 carries and six targets with Gibbs out last week.

Stop us if you’ve heard this one before: Lions RB David Montgomery scored a rushing TD. The veteran back tallied 109 rushing yards on 19 carries in addition to snagging 2 catches for 20 yards as a receiver in Week 5 vs. the Panthers. Fellow RB Craig Reynolds stepped up in the absence of Jahmyr Gibbs with 7 carries, 52 rushing yards, and a TD of his own in the contest. The Detroit backfield has delivered for fantasy all year and will look to assert their dominance again next week vs. the Buccaneers.

Lions RB Jahmyr Gibbs (hamstring) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Panthers. We’ll see if the rookie can make it back for Week 6 after hurting his hamstring in practice on Friday. Gibbs’ absence today should mean an even bigger workload for RB David Montgomery. RBs Craig Reynolds and Zonovan Knight are active to spell Montgomery.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero now reports that (via miscommunication) he was incorrect this morning on the status of RB David Montgomery. The Lions RB is expected to return from his thigh injury for Thursday night's game against the Packers. Assuming this proves true, Montgomery should be back in the low-RB2 mix for fantasy football lineups. Rookie RB Jahmyr Gibbs, meanwhile, should see a big decrease in his rushing share vs. Sunday's game. Craig Reynolds and Zonovan Knight can go back to being guys we forget are there. Detroit is also expected to get LT Taylor Decker back, which can only help both the run and pass offense.

Update: Pelissero adds that Montgomery will be the "lead back," with "plenty" still in the plan for Gibbs as well. We'll trust that he's not working off miscommunication this time. Check your Team Intel page or the Week 4 rankings before setting your lineup.

Lions RB David Montgomery (thigh) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Falcons. RBs Jahmyr Gibbs, Craig Reynolds, and Zonovan Knight are active for Detroit. We’re expecting Gibbs to get at least a slight uptick in rushing volume, with Reynolds soaking up most of the rest of Montgomery’s work. See where the Lions RBs land in the Week 3 Rankings.

Lions RB David Montgomery (thigh) is listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game vs. the Falcons. He didn’t practice all week and is obviously a long shot to play. Montgomery’s absence should mean a bigger role for RB Jahmyr Gibbs, although RB Craig Reynolds and potentially RB Zonovan Knight will be in the mix.

The Lions have promoted RB Zonovan Knight to the active roster. It's an indication that the team expects RB David Montgomery (quad) to at least miss this weekend's game vs. the Falcons. His absence would leave Detroit's backfield to Jahmyr Gibbs, Craig Reynolds, and Knight.

Lions RB David Montgomery told reporters Monday morning that he'll need "a couple weeks" for the quad he injured Sunday to heal, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. That means you'll need to plan for Montgomery to miss at least the next two games, and perhaps more beyond that. Jahmyr Gibbs obviously stands as the backfield's top fantasy play in Montgomery's absence. RB Craig Reynolds also got involved for 3 carries and 1 target after Montgomery left the OT loss to Seattle. Reynolds is worth a pickup in deeper fantasy football leagues, ahead of a Week 3 home date with the Falcons.

Lions RB Craig Reynolds (ribs) has been placed on IR. Justin Jackson will step in as Detroit's #3 RB but is only worth stashing in deep fantasy leagues.

Lions RB Craig Reynolds has been ruled out of Sunday's game vs. the Packers with a rib injury. That leaves Justin Jackson as Detroit's #3 RB behind D'Andre Swift and Jamaal Williams.
