The Cardinals have reached a 1-year deal with former Bills TE Charles Clay. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports it's worth "up to" $3.25 million. That's decent money for a veteran joining an Arizona roster that returns TEs Ricky Seals-Jones and Jermaine Gresham. We'll see how the new coaching staff stacks this crew on the depth chart and what Clay's arrival means for RSJ's playing time. Seals-Jones carries easily the most upside among the trio but will need opportunities. This looks like a situation to avoid until late in current best-ball drafts.
Cardinals TE Jermaine Gresham (illness) is out for Sunday's game against the Redskins. That presumably means that TE Ricky Seals-Jones will see an uptick in snaps, making him a more intriguing Week 15 flier in a plus matchup. Washington ranks 31st in fantasy points allowed to TEs.
Cardinals TE Jermaine Gresham (ribs) is active for tonight's game against the Cowboys. He's not much of a fantasy option, but his availability is good news for QB Carson Palmer and the rest of the offense.
Cardinals TE Jermaine Gresham is questionable for Monday night's game with a rib injury. Gresham missed Week 2 with the ailment but put in limited practices all week. He's not worth waiting for in any but the deepest of fantasy football leagues this time around.
Cardinals TE Jermaine Gresham (hip) is inactive for today’s game against the Colts. Troy Niklas figures to leave Arizona TEs in snaps but isn’t a fantasy option.
Cardinals TE Jermaine Gresham (hip) is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Colts. He didn’t practice all week and will obviously be at much less than 100% if he suits up. Gresham isn’t a Week 2 fantasy option.
The Cardinals have re-signed TE Jermaine Gresham to a 4-year deal, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The TE has never been a big part of HC Bruce Arians' offense, and that won't change going forward. Gresham has posted lines of 18-223-1 and 37-391-2 in Arizona the past 2 seasons. Expect similar output in 2017.
Cardinals TE Jermaine Gresham injured his left knee in Sunday's win over the Rams. We'll look for an update tomorrow, but there's not much fantasy impact here. Gresham has topped 3 targets just twice all year.
Darren Fells, not Troy Niklas or Jermaine Gresham, is the favorite for starting TE duties in Arizona this season. “It’s going to really, really hard to beat him out," HC Bruce Arians said Monday. Fells played basketball in college and then professionally overseas before heading to the NFL in 2013. He saw his 1st regular-season action last year and totaled 6 catches, 72 yards and a TD in the Cardinals' final 4 contests (including playoffs). Fells is a monstrous 6'7, 281-pounder with some red-zone upside. But he spent 73.4% of his snaps blocking last season. He figures to play a similar role in 2015. Niklas and Gresham could still both finish with more fantasy points than Fells. The takeaway here, though, is that you should avoid all Cardinals TEs in your draft.
Cardinals TEs Jermaine Gresham (back) and Troy Niklas (ankle) have been activated for training camp. The duo figures to share receiving duties in an offense that's averaged just 92.5 TE targets in HC Bruce Arians' first 2 seasons. Gresham and Niklas will likely need an injury to the other to provide any fantasy value. And even then, they'd be just low-upside spot starters.
The Cardinals placed TE Jermaine Gresham on the PUP Wednesday, a day after signing the free agent. Gresham had back surgery in March. He can come off the list whenever he's ready, though staying on into the regular season would cost at least 6 games. TE Troy Niklas also landed on the active/non-football injury list with hamstring trouble. That follows a right ankle issue that cost him the final day of minicamp this spring and offseason surgery on the left ankle that "removed a tightrope," according to ESPN.com. Bottom line for fantasy owners: Don't draft a Cardinals TE.
The Cardinals have signed TE Jermaine Gresham. The former Bengal needed offseason back surgery, but Arizona is clearly satisfied with his recovery so far. Gresham caught 62 balls last year but averaged just 7.4 yards per catch. His career average sits at 9.7. There's not much physical upside here, and Gresham will now be battling Troy Niklas for targets in an offense that doesn't feature the TE in its passing game. Neither Cardinal TE is worth drafting in standard-sized fantasy leagues.
Bengals TE Jermaine Gresham will undergo surgery this week to repair a herniated disc in his back. The issue was reportedly discovered on a free-agent visit to Oakland. Gresham's rehab timeline is unclear right now, but he'll obviously need to wait to land a new contract. He turns only 27 in June and has caught at least 46 passes in all 5 of his NFL seasons. But Gresham is only averaging 9.7 yards per catch. He's unlikely to emerge as more than a matchup play in 2015.
NFL Network's Kimberly Jones reports that Bengals TE Jermaine Gresham (back) won't play against the Colts today. It's another blow to an already thin pass-catching corps. WR Mohamed Sanu should dominate targets when Cincinnati goes to the air this afternoon, but expect a run-heavy attack.
Bengals TE Jermaine Gresham (back) is questionable for this weekend's game against the Colts. He didn't practice at all this week, but that's likely a case of Cincinnati getting him some rest. We're expecting Gresham to play on Sunday -- and in an expanded pass-catching role with WR A.J. Green likely out.
Bengals WR A.J. Green (concussion) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Colts. After putting in a limited practice on Thursday, he was held out on Friday. It looks like he suffered a setback. We should know by tomorrow whether he's been cleared to play, but that's obviously a long shot at this point. Green's absence would mean more targets for WR Mohamed Sanu and TE Jermaine Gresham, but look for a run-heavy attack from Cincinnati.
Bengals TE Jermaine Gresham (toe) is inactive for today’s game against the Browns. It leaves Cincinnati with Kevin Brock at TE. He’s obviously not a fantasy option.
Bengals TE Jermaine Gresham (toe) is questionable for this weekend’s game against the Browns. He injured his toe in practice on Thursday and did not practice on Friday. That makes him seem unlikely to play on Sunday. Even if he does, Gresham shouldn’t be in fantasy lineups.
Bengals TE Tyler Eifert has been placed on short-term IR. It knocks him out for 8 weeks, so he'll be eligible to return in Week 10. We wouldn't bother stashing Eifert in any redraft leagues. His absence will mean more action for TE Jermaine Gresham, but he remains an unexciting fantasy option. Gio Bernard, Mohamed Sanu and, eventually, Marvin Jones could also see more targets with Eifert sidelined.
NFL Network's Albert Breer reports that the Bengals believe TE Tyler Eifert suffered a dislocated elbow in Sunday's win over the Ravens. "That'd likely put him out for an extended period of time," Breer adds. We should get a better idea of Eifert's timetable within the next couple days, but he'll be droppable in most fantasy leagues. Eifert's absence should mean a few extra looks for TE Jermaine Gresham, but he's still an unappealing fantasy option. WR Mohamed Sanu -- and WR Marvin Jones when he returns -- could be the primary beneficiaries.
