Goedert out for Week 18
Eagles TE Dallas Goedert was not activated from the COVID list and will miss Saturday night's regular-season finale vs. Dallas. He should be back for the Wild Card Round. TE Richard Rodgers was elevated from the practice squad and looks like Philly's Week 18 starter. He's in play in the 2-game DFS slate.
Eagles activating Goedert
The Eagles are activating TE Dallas Goedert (ankle) ahead of Sunday night's game against the Cowboys, according to multiple reports. Goedert reportedly surprised coaches in practice this week with how far along he is in his return from a Week 3 fracture in his ankle. It's tough to know just how much Goedert will play in his 1st game back, but we'd assume something near his usual role. Otherwise, it would seem to make more sense to keep him out through the Week 9 bye. Goedert's return dampens the outlook for TE Richard Rodgers, but there's room for both to produce amid a still-shallow pass-catcher depth chart.
Goedert out until Week 10?
Eagles TE Dallas Goedert (ankle) will "potentially return" by Week 10, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports. It's the first real timetable we've gotten on Goedert since he was placed on IR with a small fracture in his ankle on September 29. Goedert remains worth stashing on fantasy rosters, but it sounds like you'll need to wait a few more weeks for him. With TE Zach Ertz (ankle) also expected to be out until at least Week 10, Richard Rodgers will operate as Philly's lead TE for at least next week's game vs. Dallas. (The Eagles have a Week 9 bye.) Rodgers hauled in 6 of 8 targets for a team-high 85 yards in Thursday night's win over the Giants.
Ertz expected to miss 4-6 weeks
NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports that the Eagles expect TE Zach Ertz to miss "about" 4-6 weeks. That extends the timeline beyond the initial 3-4 week projection. This makes Ertz droppable in many fantasy football leagues, especially considering the disappointing production before he went down. The dearth of healthy starters in Philadelphia's offense makes TE Richard Rodgers a viable PPR lineup option until Dallas Goedert returns.
Ertz expected to miss 3-4 weeks
The Eagles expect TE Zach Ertz to miss 3-4 weeks with the ankle injury he suffered in Sunday's loss to the Ravens, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen. TE Dallas Goedert is eligible to come off IR for Week 7, if his injured ankle is ready. If Goedert isn't ready, then Richard Rodgers would figure to operate as the lead TE for Thursday night's game against the Giants. Ertz can be dropped in shallower fantasy leagues that don't have IR spots. He currently sits just 17th among TEs in PPR points, and Goedert should return before Ertz does, based on Mortensen's timeline.
Update: Adam Schefter adds that it's a high-ankle sprain for Ertz.
