Lions HC Dan Campbell said Friday that TE Sam LaPorta had back surgery and that his chances of returning this season are "very, very slim." We'll look for more details on LaPorta's injury and whether it'll impact his 2026, but he can be dropped from all redraft rosters.

The Lions placed TE Sam LaPorta on IR with his back injury. He's out through at least through Week 14, and it's unclear if he'll be ready to return when first eligible in Week 15. We still don't have any details on this back injury. LaPorta is worth trying to hang on to in fantasy leagues, but he's not a must-hold if you need the roster space. TE Brock Wright is next up on Detroit's depth chart but owns just 65 catches in 67 career games. TE Ross Dwelley -- 45 catches in 108 games -- is also on the active roster. TEs Anthony Firkser and Zach Horton are on the practice squad. We wouldn't bother with any of these guys in fantasy right now. Expect most of LaPorta's targets to be spread to WRs Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams and RBs Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery.

TE Brock Wright is the next man up for Detroit but will not have anywhere near as big a role in the passing game as LaPorta. Lions QB Jared Goff (ankle) is not listed on the final Week 9 injury report. He was sidelined on Wednesday but put in full practices on Thursday and Friday. We’re not expecting the ankle to be a factor in this weekend’s game vs. the Packers.

Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown went off in Sunday’s win over Tampa Bay, snagging 12 passes for 124 yards and 1 score. Jared Goff played well – on the road, no less – while St. Brown looked fully over his abdomen injury. His TD came from 27 yards out, boosted by RB Craig Reynolds' hustle block. St. Brown will remain a WR1 for Sunday’s game at Baltimore.

Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (abdomen) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game vs. the Panthers. He didn't practice all week and obviously needs to be on fantasy benches. His absence would leave Detroit's WR corps to Josh Reynolds, Jameson Williams, Kalif Raymond, and Marvin Jones. Reynolds (groin) and Williams (not injury related) are listed as questionable for Week 5 but should play after getting in full practices on Friday. St. Brown's absence figures to mean an even more run-heavy game plan for Detroit -- and potentially a target boost for TE Sam LaPorta.

The Lions have ruled WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (ankle) out for Sunday's game against the Seahawks. And that's not the only injury at play in this pass-catching corps. TE T.J. Hockenson (foot), WR D.J. Chark (ankle) and Josh Reynolds (ankle) are also dealing with injuries that have cost them practice time this week. Khalif Raymond and Quintez Cephus sit behind that group if any others wind up inactive. HC Dan Campbell also said Friday that RB D'Andre Swift is "probably out" for the game. Lions QB Tim Boyle is expected to start Sunday's game vs. the Browns, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. QB Jared Goff didn't practice all week with his oblique injury. Boyle has 4 regular-season pass attempts to his name. He went undrafted back in 2018 after completing 55.5% of his passes, averaging 5.6 yards per attempt and tossing 12 TDs vs. 26 INTs across 4 college seasons (3 at UConn, 1 at Eastern Kentucky). There's a good chance this is a total disaster for the Lions offense. Downgrade RB D'Andre Swift and TE T.J. Hockenson.

Lions QB Jared Goff (oblique) did not practice again on Thursday. His injury reportedly isn't serious, but NFL Network's Ian Rapoport confirms that Goff is in danger of missing this weekend's game vs. the Browns. QB Tim Boyle has been taking 1st-team reps in practice this week and would likely start over QB David Blough if Goff is out.

Lions QB Jared Goff played through a 1st-quarter oblique injury in the Week 10 tie vs. the Steelers. "Just kind of nagged me a little bit throughout the game," Goff said afterward. "I felt like I was fine to stay in there and felt like it didn’t affect me throughout the game. But it’ll be a little sore tomorrow but I’ll be fine." It sounds like Goff will be available for this weekend's game vs. the Browns, but he'll again be a bottom-barrel QB2.
