Jets S Marcus Maye is expected to miss the next 3-4 weeks with an ankle injury, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Jarrod Wilson looks like the next man up, though the Jets are also getting S Ashtyn Davis back from IR this week. We'll see about the replacement plan at safety.
Jets S Marcus Maye limped off the field in the 2nd half of Thursday night's loss to the Colts, and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that the team fears he suffered a torn right Achilles' tendon. "It's not looking good," HC Robert Saleh said after the game. Assuming that injury is confirmed -- as they almost always are -- Sharrod Neasman looks like the next man up in the Jets secondary.
Jets S Marcus Maye looks ready to go for Sunday's game against the Patriots. He sat out the past 2 games with an ankle injury but returned to practice coming off the bye. He finished the week with 2 full workouts and carries no injury status into the game. We've had Maye high in our Week 7 DB rankings in anticipation of his return.
Jets HC Robert Saleh said Monday that it the chance he gets S Marcus Maye and LB Jarrad Davis back for Sunday's game against the Patriots "looks promising." Maye missed the past 2 games with an ankle injury. Davis has been on IR since the start of the season following an August ankle injury. We'll keep an eye on their statuses this week. Maye was a full-timer through the 1st 3 weeks and would be a risk/reward IDP option if he's in the Week 7 lineup. We'd try not to use Davis in what will be his 1st game with the Jets.
The Jets have used the franchise tag on S Marcus Maye. That comes a year after they traded away S Jamal Adams for a package that included 2 first-round picks. Maye has played more than 1,000 snaps in 3 of his 4 seasons with the team and improved his Pro Football Focus coverage grade each year. He finished 2020 ranked 6th among safeties in overall PFF grade. Maye's fantasy production proved merely pedestrian after a huge opener at Buffalo, but there will be upside to him if you can get him in DB3 range in 2021.
Jets S Marcus Maye is active for today's game at Buffalo. He was listed as questionable with calf and ankle injuries but appears ready to go. Maye likely carries some re-injury risk, however. So don't bump him too high up your DB hierarchy.
