With veteran TE Noah Fant gone, TE Elijah Arroyo is wasting no time turning heads in Seahawks training camp. According to ESPN’s Brady Henderson, Arroyo has been showcasing his playmaking ability, while also impressing his teammates with his knowledge of the playbook.
Henderson on Arroyo’s start: “Rookie tight end Elijah Arroyo is off to a nice start in his first training camp. Seattle’s second-round pick has been making plays and drawing praise for how well he knows the playbook.”
QB Sam Darnold: “You can tell he studied a ton in the summer.”
Arroyo offers significant upside on a per-play basis. In his final collegiate season, he averaged 16.9 yards per reception and 12.6 yards per target – numbers that highlight his big-play potential.
Seattle is expected to use Arroyo in a field-stretching role, though questions remain about his usage, especially given his limited volume at Miami.
Still, Arroyo is clearly the most dynamic pass-catcher among Seattle’s TEs. With the departure of Fant and WR DK Metcalf, over 30% of the team’s targets are suddenly available, setting the stage for Arroyo to carve out a meaningful role.
