Jalen Hurts Still Can't Put Together Two Good Passing Halves

By Matt Schauf | Updated on Mon, Sep 29 2025 1:48 PM UTC
        Jalen Hurts Headshot

Eagles QB Jalen Hurts opened Sunday's win over the Buccaneers looking good. He completed 15 of 16 passes for 130 yards and 2 TDs while rushing for 42 yards as Philly glided to a commanding first-half lead. But Hurts completed none of his eight pass attempts after the break. His second-half production included just 20 more rushing yards on five attempts.

        What They're Saying

Jimmy Kempski of Philly Voice: "Hurts was great in the first half. He found the open receivers and completed passes to all areas of the field. ... He was not good in the second half, and I believe it was a simple matter of making throws in which he didn't give his receivers realistic chances of making plays on the ball."

        2025 Fantasy Football Impact

Getting worried about Hurts doesn't make a whole lot of sense. He entered this season off four straight years of top-5 level fantasy production, and he sits sixth among QBs in scoring right now (depending on your format).

But the passing game definitely needs to get on track.

Hurts' hot start at Tampa seemed to indicate the team had figured out its issues from the first 2.5 games. The QB and his WRs shredded the Rams' defense over the second half of a Week 3 comeback victory.

But the second half against the Bucs looked like a reversion to the previous struggles.

Expect plenty more coverage from the Philadelphia media and probably frustrated quotes from Eagles players and coaches, despite the team sitting 4-0.

As for Hurts' fantasy outlook: no change. Let's just keep playing him in our lineups and hope offense doesn't take too long to get us more maximum Hurts instead of just the good version.
