The NFL is suspending Steelers WR DK Metcalf two games for "initiating a physical confrontation with a fan" amid Sunday's win over the Lions. Metcalf is appealing the suspension, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
What They're Saying
League statement: "Metcalf's actions violate league policy, which specifies that 'players may not enter the stands or otherwise confront fans at any time on game day and ... if a player makes unnecessary physical contact with a fan in any way that constitutes unsportsmanlike conduct or presents crowd-control issues and/or risk of injury, he will be held accountable."
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
It seems unlikely that this suspension will get overturned. And even if the appeal manages to shorten the ban by a game, Metcalf would still miss Week 17.
His absence would make it tough to trust any Steelers WR in a fantasy lineup. Metcalf was the only member of the corps to play more than 43% of Sunday's snaps.
He stayed on the field for 88%, followed by:
- Adam Thielen 43%
- Marquez Valdes-Scantling 42%
- Scott Miller 20%
- Calvin Austin III 16%
- Ben Skowronek 1%
The previous game looked similar, though with Thielen and MVS a bit closer to the leader:
- Metcalf 79%
- Thielen 58%
- Valdes-Scantling 52%
- everyone else short of 30%
Expect Thielen to land highest among Pittsburgh wideouts in our Week 17 rankings. But no member of the corps looks especially attractive for Sunday against the Browns.
Expect a RB-heavy approach.
