Jaguars GM James Gladstone suggested at his end-of-season press conference that Travis Hunter's usage could shift more toward CB in 2026, based on the team's need at that position vs. WR. Hunter played 323 snaps on offense and 162 on defense as a rookie.
What They're Saying
Gladstone on Hunter's deployment: “We still expect him to play on both sides of the ball. Obviously, you can take a peek at expiring contracts on our roster, and which side of the ball has more. Obviously, at this point walking into the offseason, corner is a position that we have a few guys who are on expiring contracts. So, by default, you can expect there to be a higher emphasis on his placement.”
2026 Fantasy Football Impact
We're eight months away from the start of the 2026 season. A lot can, and will, change. If the Jaguars are able to land an impact CB or two in free agency and/or the draft, that could alter the plan for Hunter.
But Jacksonville is deep at WR after trading for Jakobi Meyers at the deadline and getting a late-season breakout from Parker Washington. Brian Thomas is coming off a disappointing sophomore season and has been bandied about as a trade candidate, but we'd still bet against it.
Of course, Hunter is talented enough to push all those guys aside for snaps at WR. But, at least at this early stage of the offseason, his 2026 fantasy value comes with a super wide range of outcomes.
