Seahawks OC Klint Kubiak intends to work on a deal to become the Raiders’ next head coach after the Super Bowl. Kubiak was the OC for the Saints before heading to the Seahawks. He will now inherit an offense with key young weapons in RB Ashton Jeanty, TE Brock Bowers, and likely QB Fernando Mendoza as the top pick of the 2026 NFL Draft.
What They're Saying
Adam Schefter of ESPN: “Source: After meeting Saturday with Las Vegas and Arizona, Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak intends to try to work out a deal to become the next head coach of the Raiders.”
Fantasy Football Impact
Kubiak’s success with Sam Darnold, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and the Seahawks marked him as a finalist for both the Raiders and Cardinals HC jobs. He ended up choosing the Raiders, likely due to them having the top pick to draft Mendoza and put a potential franchise QB in place.
The scheme should fit Mendoza extremely well. Kubiak’s offense takes a lot of cues from his father, Gary, and the Shanahan schemes of the NFL. For the QB, it is built on timing and creating easy completions to set up longer shots. It doesn’t require the strongest arm, but a smart on time QB should thrive.
That is Mendoza’s game. He'll be the top pick based on his accuracy and ball placement. He should fit well into the scheme.
The scheme should also benefit Ashton Jeanty, who struggled with a primarily gap scheme led by OC Chip Kelly last year. Kubiak’s scheme uses more zone blocking, which should allow Jeanty to choose his cutback lanes and holes instead of sticking to scripted runs. This could cover up some of the Raiders' O-line issues in the run game. It certainly can’t get worse.
Overall, the scheme should provide a major boost to Raiders’ offensive weapons, especially if the OL improves, even slightly, in 2026.
